Charly Boy blast Julius Agwu’s “Life As I See It Concert”

Published

on

Lol, although I didn’t attend the concert, but I can picture what Charly Boy is trying to say from the article, more so, the show wasn’t really a talk around town, so it seems it didn’t meet up to the standard. Charly who has been a long time friend with Julius Agwu writes on the ‘Life As I See It Concert’ organized by ace comedian, Julius Agwu which held at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja on February 14, 2016. He titled it “Haba Julius, Where’s The Genius??!!

Read below:

Haba Julius, Where’s The Genius??!!

Julius Agwu is my friend and a brother, one of the many comedians I have encouraged in their careers through the years. When I lost my buddy, my father, he was there to give me all the moral support I needed.

I love Julius as much as some great Nigerian comedians, artistes and actors that have passed through the University of CharlyBoyism, who are now doing pretty well in their respective fields.

I was at my guy’s LIFE AS I SEE IT show with my family at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja on February 14, 2016.

Mehnnnn, was I bored to tears!!!

First of all, the show that was billed to start at 4pm didn’t start till around 8.30pm, and wouldn’t you expect that such a show already starting so late would compensate the audience by blowing off the roof with powerful rib-crackers back to back? For where!

I wasn’t sure whether we were at a musical/comedy show or in a pentecostal revival ground.

We had trickles of respite when other artistes did their thing but each time Julius came up, it was like he was on a mission to convert us sinners in the hall. He kept preaching, oblivious of many people’s disapproval, boredom and disgust for turning a comedy show into a sermonized gospel rant and chant. Kai!

I understand what my brother must have gone through when he had to be flown abroad for his brain surgery. As he told me before the show started, “Charly, I almost died, I was actually being wheeled to the mortuary before God’s intervention”.

I am sure all that incident must have been very traumatic for my dear friend who felt he had to give thanks to the Lord for keeping him alive. Yes o, I agree, we all need to constantly do that because without God’s grace and mercy, who for dey alive? So praise The Lord…Halleluyah!!!!

However, the fact remains that people came there for the sole purpose of laughter, not to be preached at, after-all, the Christians in the building would have gone to Church earlier that day, being a Sunday. Abi?

We had people of different religions, denominations: Muslims, Crossbearers, Bhuddists, even Atheists in the hall that night, who didn’t come to worship but to be entertained.

As I peered into some people’s faces, I could read their strong objection and disdain about how the night was turning out.

Julius should have been sensitive, biko.

There were a few high points of the show though, when the likes of Bovi and Akpororo took control of the microphone. They were good! Very good.

My dear brother, it is good to have a grateful heart when the Lord delivers one from the jaws of death, but a comedy show is not a revival and the people in the hall can’t all be Christians.

There are many people also that the Lord has saved, giving thanks therefore, should be a personal thing with your Maker; don’t get it twisted with comedy.

I felt ripped off.

God has also saved people like us and we are grateful for what He has done in our lives, but we don’t go round terrorising people with Bible verses and the word of God.

And just in case you want to start your own church, all well and good for you but biko, don’t do it on the heels of people who have paid their hard earned money to watch a comedy show, either alone or with family and friends.

My brother, I no yab you o, I just advice you as my person. Next time let the comical genius in you come out not the preacher.

Uche Ogbodo claims Adanma Luke is not culpable for Junior Pope’s death

Uche Ogbodo has spoken up for Adanma Luke, the producer of the forthcoming movie that Junior Pope, the late actor, was supposed to feature in.

Pope died in a boat mishap on April 10 while being ferried across the Asaba end of the River Nigeria in Delta state.

It was stated that the actor, a father of three, was on his way to a movie set when he drowned.

He passed away alongside four other crew members in the boat accident.

Footage from the ride had showed him in the boat without a life jacket.

Pope’s demise spurred discussions about the general disregard for safety protocols on movie sets.

Adanma Luke, in the heat of public backlash, was suspended by the Association of Movie Producers (AMP).

In a series of posts via her Instagram story, Ogbodo condemned those who suggested she remain silent on the matter.

The actress described Luke as a “friend” and added that the producer is not culpable for the tragedy that befell the boat riders.

“Do not tell me not to support my friend who has always supported me!” Ogbodo wrote.

“I am a loyal friend! Show me through your love and I will follow you through hell if I have to! Adanma Luke is innocent.

“All the people saying it is the wrong time! I have one question for you.

“When is the right time? Huh? When she is already arrested and sentenced for what she knows nothing about?”

Earlier, Blessing Ebigieson, the AMP president, also defended Luke against accusations of negligence.

She claimed that the producer had provided life jackets for the crew but Pope refused to wear one, saying it was “dirty”.

Ebigieson added that Pope had the option to leave the set if he did not like the life jacket.

Toyin Abraham: How gossip fueled rivalry between Funke Akindele and I

Toyin Abraham, the Nigerian actress, has opened up about her past rivalry with Funke Akindele, her colleague.

Rumours of a feud between the actresses swirled after Abraham released ‘The Ghost and the Tout Too’ in 2021.

In a post on Instagram, Abraham revealed that her rift with Akindele was fueled by industry gossip.

She explained that the rumours caused “damage” and fostered unhealthy competition.

Toyin Abraham stated that the tide began to turn with maturity and she realised they can both thrive without negativity.

She congratulated Akindele on her box office success with ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ and called for unity in the movie industry.

“The number one cause of fights in the industry then was ‘he said, she said’ before the social media era. Dear Nollywood people, let me chip this in, stop tearing the industry down with your gossip,” she wrote.

“You have caused lots of damage with ‘he-said, she-said’. In those days of the Yoruba film industry, @funkejenifaakindele was number one after the likes of Aunty Bukky and Aunty Faithia. I was the next in line.

“The competition was much and with many gossips in between, we became competitors and persona non grata. She moved on to the English industry, I became number one before moving on too.

“Aunty Funke and I continued the rivalry sort of. It pitted our fans against each other. We are two competitive Virgo women, we love to win and sometimes in that process, we splash dirt and mud.

“But with time, age, and more wisdom, I have realised we can compete without being negatively competitive. Aunty Funke, I celebrate you for showing us what is possible. You are a winner. You sold over 1B, you made it possible for other women to dream.”
