{"id":110064,"date":"2024-08-03T08:14:50","date_gmt":"2024-08-03T07:14:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bodexng.com\/?p=110064"},"modified":"2024-08-03T08:14:52","modified_gmt":"2024-08-03T07:14:52","slug":"sanwo-olu-asks-security-agencies-to-probe-igbomustgo-posts-says-lagos-is-home-to-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bodexng.com\/2024\/08\/sanwo-olu-asks-security-agencies-to-probe-igbomustgo-posts-says-lagos-is-home-to-all\/","title":{"rendered":"Sanwo-Olu asks security agencies to probe #IgboMustGo posts, says Lagos is home to all"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div>\n<p>Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, says the city will remain a melting pot and \u201chome to everybody\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The governor was reacting to recent calls for the forced relocation of Igbos from Lagos and other south-west states \u2014 in certain sections of the social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement on Friday issued by Gboyega Akosile, his special adviser on media and publicity, Sanwo-Olu described the social media posts as \u201creckless and divisive\u201d, adding that the perpetrators are trying to cause friction between the Yorubas and other ethnic groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe attention of Lagos state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been drawn to a post by LagosPedia, a social media handle on X (formerly Twitter) that calls on the Igbo to vacate Lagos and south-west of Nigeria and brace up for a massive hashtag #Igbomustgo protest from 20th to 30th August, 2024,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe governor of Lagos state and indeed, Lagos state government wish to distance themselves from the reckless, divisive and dangerous rhetoric, saying Lagos remains home to every Nigerian citizen regardless of their ethnic nationality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGovernor Sanwo-Olu views the post as not only reckless and divisive but an attempt to sow a seed of discord between the Yoruba in the Southwest and other tribes, especially those who have made Lagos their permanent place of abode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe governor appeals to Lagosians not to allow any person or group of individuals to create tensions in the state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He called on the security agencies to immediately investigate those behind the social media posts and ensure they are brought to justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, says the city will remain a melting pot and \u201chome to everybody\u201d.
