‘I denied you sex, not access to our child’ — Sophia Momodu replies Davido

Published

Sophia Momodu, the baby mama of Davido, has responded to a lawsuit filed against her by the singer over the custody of Imade Adeleke, their daughter.

The Afrobeats star filed a motion through Olaniyi Arije and Okey Barrah, his lawyers, at the Lagos high court on April 17, 2024.

He is seeking a court order granting him “unfettered and unrestricted access” to Imade who is aged nine.

The singer also alleged that he had been responsible for Imade’s education, housing, transportation, living expenses, health care, and periodic travel.

Responding to Davido’s lawsuit, Momodu argued that she has never denied the singer access to their daughter.

The fashion entrepreneur, in a statement dated June 22, 2024, and issued by her legal representatives Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors and Bimpe Ajegbomogun & Co., however, claimed Davido “repeatedly threatened” to make her life “miserable” if she does not make herself “available to him sexually”.

“David Adeleke and Sophia Momodu were in a relationship from 2014-2017 and 2020-2022. During this time, David provided financial support for their daughter, covering school fees, rent, and other living expenses, including the cars mentioned in the article,” the statement partly reads.

“Sophia ended the relationship with David in July 2022. Since then, David has repeatedly threatened to make Sophia’s life miserable if she does not make herself available to him sexually.

“Sophia has never denied David access to their daughter, only access to her body and intimacy, which he has taken issue with. David is in a publicly known relationship, and Sophia wishes him well. She seeks to move forward in her life free from harassment and verbal abuse.”

Davido’s lawsuit seeking child custody follows a tumultuous history between him and Momodu.

In January, Momodu threatened to sue the singer for alleged cyberbullying and harassment.

In 2023, she revealed plans to change Imade’s surname to hers, claiming she has been both mother and father to their daughter.

Davido and Chioma’s relationship attracted massive public attention as fans eagerly kept with every detail of the affair between the award-winning artist and celebrity chef.

Like several musicians, Davido tends to use his music to celebrate his romantic relationship as several songs carry heartfelt lyrics that suggest it was crafted with Chioma in mind.

From the outpouring of emotions in ‘Assurance’ where he openly declared his undying love for Chioma to adulating her in ‘No Competition’, Davido has recorded hit songs that capture his love affair.

Released in 2018, ‘Assurance’ was an open declaration of Davido‘s relationship with Chioma. The song was an instant smash hit with its title “Assurance” becoming a popular term on social media.

Davido’s famous lines “Love is sweet but when money enters love is sweeter,” have continued to be a recurring rhetoric on the impact of money in relationships.

Davido has always made it clear that money is not a problem. He restated this in ‘1 Milli’ where he expresses his readiness to pay a $1 million dowry for his love interest. The music video captures the colourful imagery of a Nigerian traditional wedding and gives fans a glimpse of what it would be like when Davido and Chioma tie the knot.

Davido created ‘Wonder Woman’ to celebrate the women in his life and other great women who have made an impact in different sectors of society. Among the women he celebrated was his fiancée Chef Chioma in a heartwarming moment that showcased their love.

With ‘Jowo’, Davido crafted a song that appeals to lovers of all ages. The heartfelt lyrics and earnest plea of a man with his heart on his sleeves suggest this is a song personal to Davido and inspired by his love for Chioma.

One of the songs on his record-breaking fourth album ‘Timeless,’ Davido rolled out the superlatives for his love interest as he made it clear that no one compares to her.

The song suggests a rededication of Davido’s love and commitment to Chioma especially in the face of the trying moments that preceded the album’s release.

I will never split bills 50/50 with my wife, says IK Osakioduwa

Media personality IK Osakioduwa has opened up about his financial philosophy in his marriage, asserting that he will never split bills with his wife.

The TV show host recently appeared as a guest on the Toke Moments podcast hosted by Toke Makinwa, speaking on his successful career as a media personality. While there, he clarified his stance on financial matters within his marriage to his wife Olohije Osakioduwa, stressing that he doesn’t have his wife paying bills like school fees.

He said to Toke, “I’m not a big baller and I’m not claiming to be one of those guys who has all the money in the world, but I’m not looking into my wife’s pocket for anything.”

Ik added, “It’s like being in the gym, she may see that ‘IK’s money is a bit slow today’ and she may come in to do something. I don’t ask it of her but she may come in to do something ans it’s nice to see but I will never ask it of her. Once some time has passed I’m giving her back the money sharply. It’s just the better way to operate, it’s my system and I know everybody’s system is different.”

He acknowledged that while there are men who evenly split household bills with their wives, he does not do such.

“I know many guys who are going 50/50 with their wives. I will never ever in my life go 50/50, my wife doesn’t even know how much the kid’s school fees are. She knows but she’s never once had to bring money out to say that she’s paying school fees and she will never,” he stressed.
