‘Anointing should not stop you from being romantic’, Adeboye tells couples

Published

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has stressed the importance of maintaining romance in marriage, even amid spiritual obligations.

In a message on his Facebook page, Adeboye revealed that he and his wife, Foluke, still use affectionate pet names when they are alone, highlighting that “anointing does not reduce romance.”

Through this heartfelt advice, Adeboye urged married couples to prioritize intimacy and romance to keep their marriages vibrant and joyful.

He explained that some pastors avoid romantic activities, believing it distracts from their spiritual focus.

Adeboye emphasised that being anointed should not negate the need for romance, drawing an example from the Bible.

He wrote, “The fact that you are a Christian does not in any way take romance out of your marriage. Marriage is the only institution where romance and intimacy are allowed between a man and a woman.

“Some pastors hardly go on dates with their spouses because they consider such a romantic activity as a distraction from their focus on spiritual matters. Some of them don’t even play with their spouses anymore. Beloved, the anointing does not reduce the need for romance in marriage.

“Isaac was an anointed man of God and a successful businessman, yet in Genesis 26:8, the Bible says he was being romantic with his wife.

“And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife. Don’t become too rigid in your marriage; don’t have more fun elsewhere without your spouse. Make the times that you and your spouse spend together so much fun that you are always looking forward to seeing each other again. If you are married, remember how you used to talk for long hours with your spouse before you got married and had children; revive that relationship again. Your spouse is still the same fellow you were very fond of, and the things you loved in him or her are still there. Don’t let all the cares of this life distract you from the gems in your spouse.

Adeboye suggested simple acts like writing notes, using pet names, and surprising each other to keep the romance alive.

“Once in a while, compose a poem for your spouse and read it to him or her in a romantic setting. Spice things up with pleasant surprises every now and then. Write a note and put it in his or her bag so that when they get to the office and open their bag, they will see the note and smile. Have a pet name that you call each other behind closed doors.

“Up until today, there is a pet name my wife calls me when we are alone. I equally have a pet name that I call her, and every time I call her by that name, she cannot but smile at me lovingly. When we are alone, we are lovers, not Daddy G.O and Mummy G.O. Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you and your spouse are deliberate about remaining the lovebirds that you were when you first got married.

“Don’t let the romance die.” he added.

CAN reacts as Lord’s Chosen member claims ‘angel’ gave her exam answer

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned a viral testimony of a Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries member who claimed “an angel” provided answers to her during an examination.

In the undated video, the congregant claimed during her promotional examination, an old man appeared to her and gave her answers to some questions.

“Brethren, nobody knew this question. So, all I did was to raise the question paper and declare to it: ‘I am a Chosen! I am a chosen!! I am a chosen!!! This question, who are you? Where is the God of my pastor power?’” she asked.

“Then, suddenly, an old man appeared by my right-hand side in white apparel. He told me, ‘My daughter, begin to write.’ And I began to write.”

According to Punch, Stephen Adegbite, CAN chairman in Lagos, described the testimony as “fabrications”.

Adegbite also criticised the church for allowing such testimonies while emphasising the importance of verifying claims.

He stressed that not all testimonies are suitable for public consumption and urged churches to scrutinise members’ stories before allowing them to testify.

Adegbite said CAN plans to meet on September 28 to address the concerns.

“She is entitled to her opinion as she is the owner of her mouth. But for anyone to say such, we must verify that. We must see the people in the hall, and they must testify against her that that was never the situation,” he said.

“But looking at it ordinarily, that is a foolish talk, and nobody should accept that. There are testimonies you don’t allow to be given in the church. And that is why before people give their testimonies, you should invite them and know what they want to talk about.

“If it is something that is good for public consumption, you should allow it to go. But if you know that the story they are telling can only be told to monkeys, you should ask the person to go and face the monkeys and say that, not in the church. So, that type of testimony should be served to the monkeys and not to human beings.”

Efforts by TheCable Lifestyle to get Daniel Okon, CAN president, to comment on the matter have proven abortive.

There has been growing skepticism surrounding testimonies from the church. Last week, social media users shared old clips of congregants recounting their miraculous experiences.

In one video, an elderly woman claimed she was attacked by four armed robbers but miraculously gained control of their guns.

Similarly, a man testified that he survived a kidnapping, machete assaults, and gunshots “without sustaining any injuries.”

Another man alleged that a lion rescued him from kidnappers by lifting him into the air and guiding him to safety.

Dee One, the comedian, earlier warned critics not to incur the wrath of Lazarus Muoka, the church’s general overseer.

IK Ogbonna, the actor, also called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to tackle the issue of “fake miracles” in churches.

You’re playing pranks with God if you give fake testimonies on altar, says Mike Bamiloye

The founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Evang. Mike Bamiloye, has warned Christians to desist from sharing fake testimonies in churches.

Pastor Bamiloye condemned the acts, explaining that those behind the untrue testimonies are ‘playing pranks with God’.

He disclosed this on his Facebook account on Thursday, stressing that the people that engage in the acts ‘are being used by the devil’.

This comes amid controversial miracle testimonies shared by church members of Lord’s Chosen Church in viral videos that have since ignited social media discussions.

Bamiloye wrote: “PLAYING PRANKS WITH GOD! If you stand on the Lord’s Altar to give fake testimonies deliberately, you are playing pranks with God! If you mount the Altar of God to deliberately tell lies that

God has done what He knew nothing about, you are playing pranks with God!

“If you arranged a fake testimony to be said on the Lord’s altar just to pump up congregation, you are playing pranks with God! If the devil set you up to embarrass the church through all his reckless bloggers, you are playing pranks with God!”

The preacher also warned bloggers who are eager to condemn the body of Christ for money, reiterating that they are unaware that they are led by the devil.

He noted that God is supreme, emphasising that he can do all things as established in the Holy book.

“And you BLOGGERS looking for things to write against the Church of Christ, employed and paid by the devil to drag His Body in the mud and stripe the church naked in the market place for monetisation, come on, you are ignorant of the fact that you are being used by the devil.

“As for me, God is unlimited. There is nothing, absolutely nothing He can not do! He can do ALL THINGS! He brought water out of the rock. He walked upon the sea. He brought out a coin from the fish’s mouth. He turned water into wine and multiplied bread in the hands of disciples.

“The entire Bible is full of mind-blowing miracles! Luke 1:37 KJV For with God, nothing shall be impossible. But if the Devil has given you a gift and you come to the Lord’s Altar to give God the glory, You are playing pranks with God!”

Bamiloye restated the wonders of God, maintaining that he is not interested in taking the glory outside his works.

He enjoined the pranksters to turn a new leaf, stressing that there is an opportunity for repentance before God’s judgement.

“He would not take the dirty glory of the Devil. He is King of Glory. If you are playing pranks with God, I am so sorry for your derailing soul. The Devil that employed you to do this has a damning agenda for your soul.

“The Judgement of God is hanging upon all the pranksters who are making mockery of God and the Body of Christ. It is a terrible judgement! They have misled multitudes of weak Christians. They have discouraged lots of new converts. They have hardened the hearts of many unbelievers. For the purpose of monetisation,” the Nigerian gospel filmmaker said.

He added: “If you play pranks with God, you are risking your soul and playing with God’s judgment.”

IK Ogbonna urges CAN to tackle ‘fake miracles’ as Lord’s Chosen trends

IK Ogbonna, the actor, has called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to tackle the issue of “fake miracles” in churches.

In an Instagram post, Ogbonna condemned the practice, arguing that it mocks Christianity and deceives vulnerable individuals.

The movie star cautioned Christians against social media trends that disrespect their faith.

“It is heartbreaking to see pastors using fake miracles to deceive and exploit vulnerable people,” he said.

”These acts stain the true essence of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for selfish gain. The consequences? Broken trust, lost lives, and faith manipulated for profit.

“To those pastors, it’s time to reflect. Using God’s name for falsehood is a betrayal of the gospel. To the victims, remember your faith is sacred, and true miracles don’t come from deception.

“Let us also be cautious not to get carried away by social media trends that disrespect and ridicule our faith.

“Christianity should never be used as a tool for likes, views, or viral content.

“I call on the government and religious bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria to step up, regulate, and hold these bad actors accountable.

“Christianity is about truth, love, and humility-not fraud, manipulation, or mockery. Let’s stand together to protect the integrity of our faith!”

Ogbonna’s post came after clips of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries’ members sharing their strange testimonies went viral on social media.

In one of the videos, an elderly woman claimed she was attacked by four armed robbers but miraculously gained control of their guns.

Similarly, a man testified that he survived kidnapping, machete attacks, and gunshots “without sustaining any injuries”.

Another man alleged that a lion rescued him from kidnappers by lifting him into the air and guiding him to safety.

The clips sparked skepticism and questions about the authenticity of the church members’ testimonies.

Comedian Dee One earlier warned critics not to incur the “wrath of Lazarus Muoka, the church’s general overseer”.
