Domestic Violence: “I was beaten to the altar on my wedding day,” – Survivor tells her story

Published

on

Here is another story of domestic violence shared by one Nkiruka (@stillkinkkygal on IG). Guess women are now getting bold to share their own story.. But this is so heartbreaking how guys can raise their hands and beat up a woman to coma is something I can’t phantom.

Read Below:

“The domestic violent story that led to the death of Rronke Shonde broke my heart and took me back memory lane. Yes that is my ex husband and I, I was just 19 on that photo, you can see the innocence in my eyes. We where perfect, very perfect, outside but we fought inside.

You see that smile on that picture was plastic. I was beaten to the alter on my wedding day. What happened? Because I was tired and refused to pack plate. I swallowed it and matched to the alter. With tears in my eyes the pastor asked will you take him as your husband for better for worse, till death do you part?

Tears rolled down my eyes but the crowd clapped, screaming tears of joy. I embarked on the journey of marriage. At the age of 19, I endured like a lion. This fine young man here is an animal. He beat me up and even beat up my younger ones.

The day he beat me to coma, he was beating my lifeless body before he was stopped and I was rushed to the hospital. Do you know what her mom told me as I gained consciousness? She said (nkiru, lucky will beat you again o, get ready cause the father beat me too )

I went back in to coma. He begged and I went back home. This continued until I decided to face reality. But the truth is, do you know why we women endure domestic violence? 1) Financial Security: I was scared to leave because I did not know how to begin financially

2) Society: After bragging to my friends, and society see you as a lucky perfect girl you will want to keep it that way. 3) Loneliness: You’re scared if u’ll find someone better. I was saying who will marry me again, with my boobs like this, stretch marks, milk was still coming out of my boobs as of then, my big tommy etc, I was insecure, so I stayed .

Until one day, I woke and took a strong decision to walk away. And when I left empty handed and embarked of this journey. I kept repeating my name, Nkiruka , Nkiruka (my future is bigger ) until I reached my destination. Now I can hit my chest and tell myself I took the right step, even tho I never knew where I was going.”

Why I said Wizkid disrespected Don Jazzy – Mr. Macaroni

By

Comedian and actor, Adebowale Adedayo, aka Mr Macaroni, has disclosed his reason for saying Afrobeat music singer, Wizkid, disrespected the Mavin Records boss, Michael Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy by calling him an ‘influencer’.

Macaroni stated this on Wednesday during a live show on Wazobia TV in Lagos.

The comedian justified his position on Wizkid that although Don Jazzy is an influencer perhaps ‘the biggest entertainment influencer we have in Africa’, adding that the context in which Wizkid presented him was disrespectful.

He added that Don Jazzy is not just an ordinary influencer, saying the Mavin Records label boss influenced the music industry when he newly came out with Ricardo Banks, Tiwa Salvage, Korede Bello, Dija and up the new crops of music artistes.

Macaroni said, “Don Jazzy is an influencer and perhaps the biggest entertainment influencer we have in Africa. He is such a massive influencer in the entertainment industry, from music to film.

“His impact speaks volumes. So, while Wizkid’s comments about Don Jazzy were a bit disrespectful in context, Don Jazzy’s influence is undeniable.

“Look at when he has been doing it with the likes of D’Banj, Wande Coal, Dr Sid, De Prince and then to Maving Records when they newly came out with Ricardo Banks, Tiwa Salvage, Korede Bello, Di’ja and up to this new generation.”

He said Don Jazzy has been so successful that there can never be a discussion around shaping the music industry without mentioning him.

The comedian also described Don Jazzy as a champion and great influence whose impact is undeniable on the growth of the music industry.

“Don Jazzy is a champion. Of course, he’s an influencer; he’s a great influencer. He doesn’t do it for just music; he does it for content and films. All you need is just to add Don Jazzy as a collaborator. You don’t even need to have a million followers. If he loves what you have done, he will just accept your request and the millions of followers that he has can see the content.

“But, the way Wizkid worded it (influencer) when he (Wizkid) said “I can’t chat with an influencer.’ That context is what we find disrespectful,” he added.

Paulo Okoye, the showbiz promoter, has slammed Afrobeats heavyweights over their recent feud on social media.

The chaos began on Monday when Wizkid taunted Davido and Don Jazzy, referring to the latter as an “influencer” and poking fun at the former with a video clip.

The singer’s posts attracted criticism from a segment of social media users, including celebrities.

Davido retaliated, labeling Wizkid’s career as “dead”.

Amid the ongoing exchange, Kizz Daniel and Tekno also traded jabs over their collaboration on the hit song ‘Buga’.
