Mama Burna Speaks On African Music And How Her Relationship As A Manager To Burna Has Thrived

In a interview with mama Burna, she talked about the potential pitfalls on African music on new stars, and music in Africa.

When asked about how it feels now that her son is the most recognized artist in the world, here is what she had to say;

She responded by saying that as a manager, it is fulfilling and it makes you know that you have done a good work, and being surrounded by a solid team, with good products to sell, knowing that Burna is a good product makes everyone proud.

When asked about the situation back in 2014, when Burna Boy fired his mother due to relationship issues, then brought her back to manage the situation and become the manager again, and how she has found the formula to controlling the things she never did earlier, this is her response;

She said that both of them found the formula, and it was important that he fired her, for which he had to go on without her at a time, she also said that even though she was fired, she was still in control of most of the activities going on around Burna Boy. She said that there is now maturity both both parties, and when that happened, it was important that Burna Boy came back to retrace his steps. Mama Burna said that she had to know were relationship starts and ends, as well as business which has made things easy for both of them.

Asked about the award she collected on behalf of Burna in 2019 at the BET Awards, were she talked about the message she passed out the all black people who were present and not present, this was her response;

She said she was born into a pan Africanist family and she can talk about her time when she was five years old, she says as a parent, you raise your kids with what you know, with the  values that works for you, and she went further to say that, Burna and everyone around him, have that good moral. Adding to this, she said that she had worked around Africa in her career as a translator and as an interpreters, says she speaks many African languages and about four to five international languages, and if something is your truth, you will know it and say it.

Mama Buna was asked if they will compromise to fit into the main stream of the music world, here is what mama Burna had to say;

She said that Buurna just makes music, he goes into the studio and listens to music and it inspires him. She said that he has featured many artist due to his range and with that he has no problems, and she has not deprived the singer from coming up with his own terms.
