Global Recognition? WhatsApp now uses yoruba language as a campaign language on privacy policy

WhatsApp has come through with an advertisement on its controversial privacy policy using Yoruba, one of Nigeria’s major languages.

The less than 30-second advert started with a young Nigerian man abroad who appears to be having issues learning Yoruba despite intense reading.

As the video progresses, he started pulling the strings in his quest to learn the language when he decided to learn via WhatsApp voice notes with a tutor.

He eventually achieved his aim at the end of the advert, with family and friends celebrating with him.

“Privacy is our love language. Fun iwo nikan,” a terse post accompanying the clip read.

“How he learned the language with end-to-end encryption, only they know. Message privately,” the advert added.

The development comes weeks after the company launched its first global advertising campaign amid the backlash trailing its privacy policy.
