Buju links up with Wizkid and Wande Coal in studio — amid backlash over old tweets (Video)
Buju, the fast-rising Nigerian singer, has been spotted in what appeared to be a studio session with Wizkid, Wande Coal and King Promise, Ghanaian highlife and Afrobeats musician.
In a couple of short videos shared on his Instastories yesterday, Buju could be seen in the studio with the three afrobeats heavyweights, alongside other “studio rats”.
It remains to be seen if the singers are teaming up on a music project.
The singer, whose real name is Daniel Benson, had in a series of tweets spanning a period of three years (2015 to 2018) trolled the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Mr Eazi, and Yemi Alade.
He had — at the time — described ‘Daddy Yo’, a 2016 hit song by Wizkid, as “trash”, called Davido a “childish c*nt” while saying that Mr Eazi was “overrated.”
As the old tweets began to attract fresh backlash on social media, the emerging vocalist, however, apologised over what he described as his “unsolicited takes about another person’s music”.
“Over the years I have grown to understand that receiving or consuming music is way easier than actually making music,” he wrote in a now-deleted Twitter post.
“It’s why when you don’t make music and all you do is consume, it’s easier to make unsolicited takes about another person’s music and that’s what I used to do… sadly.
“Lol in 2015/16/17 I didn’t know I was even going to make music. I just used to listen and criticize which is still allowed as far I no kill anybody but it was because I knew no better.
“So if people think it’s wise to criticize me over tweets from those years, it’s calm…it’s just joblessness. I know way better and I’m cool with everybody.”
The ‘Catch a Vibe’ singer was signed to Spaceship records, a music label owned by Burna Boy, Grammy award-winner, in 2020.
Buju also boasts of an extended play titled ‘To Your Ears’ and has featured prominent artists like Zlatan, JAE5, Blaqbonez, and Ladipoe.

Cynthia Morgan reveals why she’ll never reach out to Burna Boy
Cynthia Morgan has revealed why she will never reach out to Burna Boy amid the controversy surrounding his rumoured past relationship with Uju Stella.
In a recent post on her Instagram story, Morgan claimed people advised her to contact Burna Boy regarding Stella’s interview.
In the interview, Stella alleged that she and Burna Boy dated for three years and she got pregnant for him.
In the post, Morgan said she can’t reach out to Burna Boy because he is still upset that she didn’t believe him when Stella made the accusations in 2016.
The songstress also took a shot at men, arguing that they tend to lie and get angry when others don’t believe them.
“For those sending me messages to reach out to Burna Boy, I won’t. If it was me I would reach out but he is probably still mad that I didn’t believe he didn’t impregnate Uju Stella in 2016,” she wrote.
“That’s what most men do. They lie and get mad when you don’t believe them. Something he finally admitted to online 8 years later. You all leave me alone. All the best Damini.”
Morgan and Burna Boy have collaborated on music, with their 2016 song ‘Acting Bad’ a notable example.
There were also rumours of a romantic relationship between the two singers in 2015, although the pair did not confirm it.
