Fire guts section of Canadian embassy in Abuja
A section of the Canada embassy building in Abuja is currently on fire.
The cause of the fire is unclear at the moment but it was learnt that it started as a result of an explosion at the embassy’s power generating plant.
Dark smoke could be seen billowing from the white building.
Staff have been evacuated from the building to safety.
The embassy is located at diplomatic drive in the central business district (CBD) of the federal capital territory (FCT).
It is a walking distance from the federal ministry of defence, popularly known as Ship House, and the embassies of Ghana, UK, and the US.
There is no comment on the incident by the FCT fire service at the time of reporting.
