Charles Inojie, Ali Nuhu campaign against domestic violence

Published

Charles Inojie and Ali Nuhu, the actors, have teamed up in the campaign against domestic violence in Nigeria.

The actors took to their respective social media pages to share a video wherein they spoke against the culture of silence in matters related to domestic violence in the country.

In the video, Inojie and Nuhu were confronted with a disturbing scenario of domestic violence in a restaurant.

The film stars were faced with the choice to either mind their own business or speak up.

Although Nuhu instinctively decided that they should ignore the situation, Inojie said: “Evil thrives when good men keep quiet”.

Together, they spark a collective demonstration with the other people in the restaurant by making noise to show their disapproval and take a stand against the violence.

According to a statement, the actors said they hope the video “inspires bystanders to take action, to make halla in their own way”.

“This is an issue close to the heart of both Inojie and Nuhu, as it is likely to be for many Nigerians,” the statement reads.

“Research shows 1 in every 3 Nigerian women have experienced domestic violence.

“The rallying cry, #MakeWeHalla, is an open invite to us all, encouraging bystanders to show that they oppose domestic violence.”

Through the video, the actors are inspiring Nigerians to recognise their power to speak up when they witness domestic violence within their communities.

The toxicology test carried out on Mohbad, the late singer, to determine the actual cause of his death has been concluded.

Born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad died under mysterious circumstances on September 12 and was buried the next day.

On September 21, the body of the artiste was exhumed. An autopsy was carried out that same day after which the police announced that they were awaiting the results.

The toxicology test was conducted in the United States.

According to PUNCH, the final test results were sent to the state DNA and Forensic Centre last week and were handed over to the police.

The report is also said to have been forwarded to the medical pathologist who carried out the autopsy for analysis and interpretation.

The Lagos state government had called for a coroner’s inquest to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death following public outcry.

Testifying at the coroner’s inquest in March, Richard Somiari, the director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, said the autopsy result on Mohbad would be ready in less than a month.

However, Monisola Odumosu, head of the family’s legal counsel, said they would apply to the state high court to conduct a separate autopsy and toxicology test.

The lawyer said the family of Mohbad was worried about the process by which the autopsy was conducted.

Odumosu further claimed that no medical expert represented the family at the point the autopsy was done.

When Uriel asked if he could heal people, Blessing said, “One hundred percent.”

When Uriel asked further why Odumeje has gotten a bad reputation on the internet as a fake pastor, Blessing said it has to do with the fact that he doesn’t speak English well.

“Because of the fact that he does not know how to communicate well in good English does not make him a fake pastor,” she said.
