Mohbad’s mother accuses husband of fighting Wunmi over son’s properties

Joseph Aloba is not Mohbad’s biological dad, mum alleges

Promise Aloba, Mohbad’s mother, has accused Joseph Aloba, her husband, of fighting Wunmi, his son’s wife.

The bereaved mother is attributing the well-reported discord between Wunmi and Joseph to ownership of the late singer’s properties.

Mohbad, a fast-rising singer, passed away on September 12, 2023.

His death sparked social media discussions, including speculation about the paternity of Liam, his son.

In October 2023, Joseph testified before a coroner’s court.

He claimed the late singer had expressed concerns about his wife’s fidelity to another signee at Marlian Records.

Joseph called for a DNA test to determine Liam’s biological father.

Wunmi agreed to the DNA test but requested it be conducted at three separate hospitals.

She also asked Mohbad’s family to cover the costs associated with the tests, including a trip to the United States.

In a recent interview with The Punch, Promise claimed that Wunmi and Joseph were once friends.

She said their issues stemmed from Liam’s christening because Joseph wanted it at his place but she declined.

Promise added that the tension between Joseph and Wunmi is because of Mohbad’s properties.

“Omowunmi and Joseph were friends, and it was pointless to fight any of them,” she said.

“What made Mohbad’s father upset started during Liam’s christening. He said they should have the ceremony in his house. But, I insisted that it should take place in Mohbad’s house.

“The major reason Joseph is having issues with Mohbad’s wife is because of my late son’s money and properties.”

Wunmi recently said she knows a lot about the singer’s death. She also claimed she was being bullied into remaining silent.

In February, Joseph asked police to summon Wunmi for questioning to unravel the cause of the singer’s death.

He also renewed his call for a DNA test on Liam, stating that he wants to save the child from future “embarrassment”.

The toxicology test carried out on Mohbad, the late singer, to determine the actual cause of his death has been concluded.

Born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, Mohbad died under mysterious circumstances on September 12 and was buried the next day.

On September 21, the body of the artiste was exhumed. An autopsy was carried out that same day after which the police announced that they were awaiting the results.

The toxicology test was conducted in the United States.

According to PUNCH, the final test results were sent to the state DNA and Forensic Centre last week and were handed over to the police.

The report is also said to have been forwarded to the medical pathologist who carried out the autopsy for analysis and interpretation.

The Lagos state government had called for a coroner’s inquest to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death following public outcry.

Testifying at the coroner’s inquest in March, Richard Somiari, the director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, said the autopsy result on Mohbad would be ready in less than a month.

However, Monisola Odumosu, head of the family’s legal counsel, said they would apply to the state high court to conduct a separate autopsy and toxicology test.

The lawyer said the family of Mohbad was worried about the process by which the autopsy was conducted.

Odumosu further claimed that no medical expert represented the family at the point the autopsy was done.

When Uriel asked further why Odumeje has gotten a bad reputation on the internet as a fake pastor, Blessing said it has to do with the fact that he doesn’t speak English well.
