AGN bans unauthorised video recordings at Junior Pope’s burial
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has banned unauthorised pictures and video recordings at the burial of Junior Pope.
Pope passed away in April after a boat accident on the River Niger in Asaba, Delta state.
His family disclosed that the actor’s final rites will be held on May 17.
In a recent Instagram post, Emeka Rollas, the AGN president, said in preparation for Pope’s burial, the guild has appointed 30 representatives from five states (Delta, Imo, Abia, Anambra, and Enugu) to attend the funeral.
He said the representatives would get AGN T-shirts and urged attendees to coordinate through their respective state chapter chairman.
Rollas also announced the restriction of unauthorised photos and recordings during the burial proceedings.
He added that press and bloggers seeking to cover the event must be accredited by Pope’s family beforehand.
“In preparation for the burial of our departed colleague Jnr Pope we have appointed 30 representatives each from these five state chapters namely Delta, Imo, Abia, Anambra and Enugu a conveying bus with the official T-shirts for each of the state chapter,” he wrote.
“If you are within any of the mentioned states please contact the chairman Actors Guild of Nigeria of the state chapter where you are.
“For those who want to go on their own please you may wish to reach out to us for your T-shirts.
“It is a devastating and sorrowful period for the Actors Guild of Nigeria therefore we shall not indulge in any unnecessary picture or video recording that is not by the official photographers at the proceedings of final journey of our departed colleague. All Press/ Bloggers must be accredited by the family.”

Mohbad’s wife launches hair business
Omowunmi, the wife of the late singer Mohbad, has launched ‘Cee Hairven’, a new hair business.
In a recent post via Instagram, Omowunmi revealed that she has received so much love and encouragement since starting the business.
The mother-of-one also expressed gratitude to her customers for supporting her work.
“I am here to specially thank everybody that has been supporting me ever since I started my business,” she said.
“Your support and love means so much to me. The words of encouragement and everything, I am so grateful. I pray God provides for the people that want to buy from me but are out of cash.”

Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo, wins parliamentary seat
Ghanaian actor-turned-politician John Dumelo has secured a seat in parliament, representing the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
Dumelo, running on the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), won the 2024 Ghana general elections, held on Saturday by garnering 40,561 votes.
He defeated incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who received 27,377 votes.
This triumph follows his narrow defeat to Alhassan in the 2020 elections. Dumelo, now 40 years old, expressed deep gratitude to his supporters and promised to deliver on his campaign pledges.
“The people of Ghana have been calling for change, and they’ve shown that if you don’t perform well or if you’re arrogant, they will vote you out,” Dumelo stated.
He added, “This is a valuable lesson for everyone. It’s not about money; it’s about the development of the people and addressing their needs.”
He also pledged to work diligently over the next four years to bring meaningful change and guide Ghana in the right direction.
Dumelo began his acting career in 1991 with the film Baby Thief. He has since appeared in numerous Ghollywood and Nollywood productions, including Away Bus, The Game, Black Men Rock, One Night In Vegas, The King is Mine, and Four Play.
