Nigeria Decides: Buhari Defeats Atiku At Obasanjo’s Polling Unit
The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari has defeated Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, at the polling unit of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, on Saturday.
It was learned that the APC secured 87 votes in the presidential election, while the PDP got 18 votes.
We reports that the former president cast his vote at his Ward 11 unit 22, within Olusomi compound, Abeokuta, in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Obasanjo voted after a long delay due to late arrival of the Independent National Electoral Commission officials.
Earlier, scores of voters who were billed to cast his vote have been stranded as the officials of the INEC were yet to arrive as at 912am.
Many prospective voters were seen at the polling centre hanging around awaiting the arrival of the INEC offciials with electoral materials.
The media aide to Obasanjo, Kehinde Akinyemi, however, said that his boss was ready to cast his vote but the failure of the INEC officials to arrive forced him to stay put.
Akinyemi said, “The former President is at his house and would cast his vote as soon as the INEC officials arrive.
The former president had already declared his support for PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Obasanjo was an ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, whom he supported for the 2015 general elections.
He has, however, accused the president of nepotism, poor performance, and sectionalism and declared his support for Abubakar.
