Eva Alordiah reveals why she stopped making music
Eva Alordiah, the Nigerian rapper, has revealed why she walked away from her “seemingly successful music career”.
In a post via X on Friday, the rapper said she took a break from making music because “depression had taken a seat” in her life and she was “burnt out”.
Alordiah said she became a “starving artiste” but decided to invest three years in “self development and learning how to make money”.
The 34-year-old rapper said she would not change anything because “today my life is so much better”.
“A few years ago I walked away from a seemingly successful music career. I was burnt out,” she wrote.
“Depression had taken an almost permanent seat beside me. My bank balance was just enough to buy my next meal.
“If there was a picture of the phrase “Starving Artist”, it would have been my damn face. One day, I said “Fuck it! I got myself here, I am gonna get myself out.
“I invested the next 3 years in relentless self development: building my body, reading ferociously, taking care of my mind, investing in online courses, learning how to make money, building multiple online businesses.
“I look back and I swear I would not change a thing! Taking responsibility for my shit helped me get my life back. Today my life is so much better because I was bold enough to say- Na me f**k up!”
Last year, Alordiah said she gave up her dream of becoming the “greatest female rapper in Africa” after suffering a “deep, dark” depression.
