Andre Dickens, the Mayor of Atlanta in the US, has declared November 18 “Davido Day”.

The recognition, which was shared via Instagram by Bobo Ajudua, Davido’s lawyer, is in honour of the singer’s contributions to the city of Atlanta.

The proclamation was made following the success of Davido ‘Are We African Yet? (AWAY)’ festival which was held at the State Farm Arena on Saturday.

The festival, designed for emerging talents, attracted a massive global audience.

In a statement, the Atlanta City Council highlighted the singer’s achievements and pronounced November 18, 2023, as a day to celebrate the Nigerian-American multiple award-winning singer’s contribution to the city’s entertainment development.

“Be it resolved that we, the members of the Atlanta City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2023, as Davido Day in the City of Atlanta,” the statement reads.

In the same vein, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners also recognised the singer for his contributions to the entertainment industry and proclaimed November 21 as “Davido Appreciation Day” in Fulton County, Georgia.

“Be it resolved, That the Fulton County Board of Commissioners recognises David for his contributions to the music and entertainment industry, and does hereby proclaim Tuesday, November 21, 2023 ‘Davido Appreciation Day’ in Fulton County, Georgia,” the board wrote in a statement.
