Brazil’s 1970 World Cup-wining captain Carlos Alberto has died.

He was 72 and died after a heart attack on Tuesday.

Alberto’s Facebook page confirmed the news:

It is in deep sorrow that we inform that this Tuesday morning our eternal captain Carlos Alberto Torres passed away in Rio de Janeiro

Alberto scored one of the most memorable goals in World Cup football, blasting in from a pass by Pele in a 4-1 final victory over Italy after almost every Brazilian player had touched the ball in the build-up.

He was 72.
