Police rescued 11 children used for begging
Eleven children used by a church in Ikorodu for street begging have been rescued by the Lagos Police command, the evangelist of the church has been arrested.
Speaking with newsmen, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni paraded the suspect and said everything was exposed as two of the children sent to beg for alms were seen by some policemen who interviewed them.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos state said after the children were interviewed by the officers they went to the church to rescue others and the church evangelist, Lois Antinso was arrested.
He added that the church is being investigated to know it’s involvement in using children for slavery.
According to the suspect, Antinso, “I am an evangelist that is attached to the church, we run an orphanage and less privilege home, w care for the poor, orphan, needy, widow, abandoned and destitute”
“I was shocked when the Bishop of the church came to the police station to deny me, we do go out three times a month to beg for assistance and it’s not aildren to go and beg on their own, I go with them.”
“The police were interrogating me as if I allowed them to go on their own, the day I was arrested I took two of the children with me who were about nine and ten years old to the ATM to teach them how to use it”.
One of the children said to newsmen that we go out three times in a week to beg and people give us money, cloths, shoes, food items and we give them back to Aunty
