Entertainment Industry Suffers Another Set back As Breeze Fm Loses N61m Worth Broadcast Equipment
Broadcast equipment worth N61 million were destroyed in the May 20 demolition of Breeze 99.9 FM, Lafia, according to Dr. Nawani Aboki, Executive Director of the private radio station.
The station was pulled down by the Nasarawa Government for allegedly violating land approval laws.
According to Mr Abdulrahman Kwara, information commissioner, the station had to go because its mast constituted a health risk to neighbours, for being sited in a residential area.
Aboki told newsmen on Tuesday in Lafia that the worth of the structure itself had not been quantified.
“The worth of the structure has not been quantified, not to talk of the trauma and shock suffered by the management and staff of the station, but we lost equipment worth N61 million to the bulldozers,” he said.
Aboki expressed surprise at the demolition because management followed due process to obtain license from the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), whose engineers inspected the building and installation process, before test transmission began.
“For over one month that Breeze FM carried out test transmission, there was no objection from any quarters, either from government, individuals or corporate organisation.
“Government cited the fear of radioactive radiation as the reason for its action, but that is the duty of NESREA; it is certainly not a duty for Nasarawa Urban Development Board.”
He insisted that the reason for the demolition of the radio station was “deeper than what is being presented”.
“I see this as a fight against the media and what it stands for; I see this action as a fight against freedom of speech and an attempt to muzzle alternative views,” Aboki said.
He said that the management of the radio station had gone to court to seek redress in response to the popular wish of the Nasarawa people, whose voice the radio station represented.

Chioma Chijioke welcomes baby boy — two years after husband’s death
Chioma Chijioke, the Nigerian actress, has welcomed a baby boy — nearly two years after the death of her husband.
The movie star lost Kingsley Anosike, the Nollywood filmmaker and director, in February 2023. Anosike died in Kuwait after slumping on a football field.
On Monday evening, Chijioke announced her childbirth in an Instagram post.
The actress shared maternity photos while also expressing gratitude to God for her bundle of joy.
The identity of Chijioke’s new partner, was however, not revealed.
Her colleagues and fans have congratulated her on the new addition to her family, wishing her all the best as a new mother.
The actress had previously shared emotional posts during her mourning period, including photos of herself going bald.
She had described her late husband as her “most precious possession”.
“Death you’re indeed a thief! In a twinkle of an eye you stole from me one of my most precious possessions and I can’t even fight you,” she wrote.
“Saying my heart is broken is an understatement compared to how I’m feeling, there’s this hole in my heart that has refused to be filled.”

Oprah Winfrey debunks claim she got $1m to endorse Kamala Harris
Oprah Winfrey, the media executive, has denied claims that she received a $1 million payment to campaign for Kamala Harris.
Donald Trump, the Republican standard-bearer, recently defeated Harris, candidate of the Democratic Party in the United States presidential election, to become the 47th president.
But on November 8, Washington Examiner alleged that Winfrey’s company Harpo Productions received the payment to host a celebrity town hall meeting.
The newspaper claimed the $1 million was part of a $1 billion raised by Harris to fund the election.
The report alleged the campaign “paid more than $15 million, according to federal filings,” on “event production”.
“This included a $1 million payment to Harpo Productions for the ‘Unite for America’ event, which took place in September,” it added.
Winfrey had hosted a town hall meeting for Harris on September 19, which featured prominent celebrities like Chris Rock, Jennifer Lopez, and Meryl Streep. She also appeared as a keynote speaker at Harris’ rally in Philadelphia.
Despite her involvement in the rally, the 70-year-old television host maintained that she did not receive any payment for her support.
In an interview with TMZ, Winfrey denied the report, saying “it is untrue”.
“Not true. I was paid nothing ever,” she said.
In a statement, Harpo Productions confirmed that the Harris campaign had paid for the costs of the town hall, without giving a specific figure.
“Oprah Winfrey was at no point during the campaign paid a personal fee, nor did she receive a fee from Harpo,” it added.

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly are expecting their first child
After a previous miscarriage, American actress Megan Fox has announced that she and her husband-to-be rapper Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) are expecting their first child together.
The actress took to Instagram in the late hours of November 12, 2024, to announce the happy news. She posted a picture from her maternity shoot cradling her baby bump while covered in black liquid, tagging Kelly in the photo. The second picture showed her positive pregnancy home test in her hand.
Her caption read, “Nothing is ever really lost. Welcome back,” a nod to MGK’s song last November about his and Fox’s past pregnancy loss.
This will be Fox’s fourth child and Kelly’s second. Fox is already mum to sons 12-year-old Noah, 10-year-old Bodhi, and eight-year-old Journey, with ex-husband Brian Austin Green, while Kelly is dad to daughter Casie.
The pair first met in March 2020 on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass and went public with their relationship after she appeared in his Bloody Valentine music video in May of the same year.
They got engaged in January 2022 and Fox announced it on her Instagram by sharing a video of MGK getting on his knees to propose to her.
In her caption, she wrote, “In July of 2020, we sat under this banyan tree,” Fox wrote in the caption of her post. “We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time. Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.”
