Mosunmola Omotayo, Political Science Graduate of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Wins Miss Ojude Oba 2019
Mosunmola Omotayo, Political Science Graduate of the Olabisi Onabanjo University currently undergoing the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme in Ibadan, Oyo State, has been crowned as the 2019 Miss Ojude Oba.Omotayo, 25, defeated eight other contestants in a competition where all the participants made three appearances in traditional, casual and dinner wears. They were rated for their elocution, poise and comportment in the keenly contested beauty pageant.The dark and tall new queen is an entrepreneur in catering and event planning, emerged as the first runner-up is Imisioluwa Jesutofunmi Jinadu, a 300-level student of English Education at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, while 20 year-old Funmilade Fanadez Osoteku was adjudged as the second runner-up.Earlier, up and coming artistes raised the curtain with scintillating performances directed by resourceful MC Bash complemented by melodious tunes mixed by DJ Tops.Ola Flow won the rap battle while Tunde Olorioko and Teju Adeyemi won smartphones in the Dance Competition for male and female categories respectively.Lady drummer, Ayanfola and her 15-people ensemble, serenaded the audience with delightful tunes from the talking drum (gangan). She meandered from folklore Ijebu songs to contemporary tracks, compelling the audience to bring out their phone cameras to record the unique performance.Popular rap artiste, Lil’Kesh revved up the musical show with sundry popular tunes enthusiastically chorused by the lively crowd of attendees who came to round off their Ileya festivities with sublime fun. His performance was a master class as he engaged the audience intermittently and indulged the people with his rich repertoire of songs including Shoki and Able GodThe Asiwaju of Fuji popularly addressed as “African Michael Jackson”, Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere and his beautiful dancers closed the musical show with a big bang.
The Fuji music star spent considerable time to remind the crowd that Glo is the best network as he dished out melodious and ‘funkified’ songs that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Dressed in a combo of green and white to show his affinity for the Nigerian national colours and Globacom’s colours, Obesere and his Glo-branded band members, sent the crowd into an ecstasy of musical pleasure.Bodex Media commended Globacom for the well choreographed musical show, adding that the event capped the eventful and bubbly 2019 Ileya festival celebrations for themMeawhile, it was joy unlimited as 10 lucky winners went home with 10 brand new tricycles and 10 LED Television sets courtesy major sponsor, Globacom.
The winners were announced after the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Lamidi Adeyemi picked the draws.Asiwaju Adebowale, 37-year old civil servant with the Ogun State Hospital Management Board was one of the winners of the tricycle.
He commended Globacom for the kind gesture adding “I feel great. I will start a transportation business to augment my salary.In the same vein, another tricycle winner, 40-year old Olayemi Henry, a social worker with the Justice Development and Peace Commission who lives in the Obalende area of Ijebu Ode said the tricycle will further endear his Commission to the Globacom brand while a panel beater who also won the tricycle announced “I will use it for business”.Some of the winners of the LED TV lauded Globacom for giving back to the society. Mrs Obafunmiloye Ogunniyi, an Events Planner said “Glo is the best. Wizkid performs ‘Troubled Mind’ at British Fashion Awards
Wizkid, the Grammy-winning singer, delivered a breathtaking performance of his new song ‘Troubled Mind’ at the 2024 British Fashion Awards.
This year’s event, held on Monday night at the Royal Albert Hall in London, saw Wizkid perform in the presence of some of the fashion world’s most prominent figures, including British-Nigerian designer Tolu Coker, Dior’s Kim Jones, and Tom Ford.
‘Troubled Mind’, which serves as the opening track of ‘Morayo‘, Wizkid’s newly released sixth studio album, thrilled the audience as the singer poured emotion into the performance.
The night saw Jonathan Anderson, the Irish-born designer, clinch the coveted Designer of the Year award for the second consecutive year.
Celebrities including Rihanna and A$AP Rocky also graced the occasion, with Rocky receiving the Cultural Innovator award.
Born Ayodeji Balogun, Wizkid gained prominence in 2011 when he released his debut album ‘Superstar’.
He has released five additional albums including, ‘Ayo’ in 2014, ‘Sound From The Other Side’ in 2017, ‘Made In Lagos’ in 2020, ‘More Love, Less Ego’ in 2022 and ‘Morayo in 2024.
The singer has also received numerous awards, including a Grammy Award in 2021 for his collaboration with Beyoncé on the hit song ‘Brown Skin Girl’.
In October, ‘Made in Lagos’ was recognised as the most-streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music.

Femi Adebayo’s epic ‘Jagun Jagun’ has won six award categories at the 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) ceremony.
The 16th edition of the BON Awards was held on Sunday night at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara.
Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, the actress, hosted the award ceremony.
At the ceremony, Femi Adebayo’s epic film ‘Jagun Jagun’ was a standout entry, winning a total of six award categories.
These include “Best Actor”, Best Costume”, “Best Indigenous Film”, “Best Production Design”, and “Best Special Effect”.
Another significant winner was the film ‘Momiwa’, which took home “Best Editing” and “Best Screenplay”.
‘Jagun Jagun’ was nominated in 12 categories.
The Netflix original Yoruba film, released in August 2023, tells the story of a warlord respected within and outside his community.
The arrival of a young man reveals his insecurities, as he fears that his authority may soon be displaced.
