The immediate past Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Adamu Abdu-Kafarati is dead. The jurist who retired from the bench on July 25, 2019, died on Thursday February 25, after observing the evening prayer in his Abuja home. A statement released by his family reads “Innalillahi Wa inna ilaihi Rajiun. It is with deep sorry that I announced the passing away of our elder statesman, Hon Justice Abdul Kafarati the immediate-past Chief Justice of High Court of the Federation and former Bauchi State Attorney General which occurred this night (Thursday) after magrib Salat at Abuja.”

Zamfara Police Commissioner, Abutu Yaro has disclosed that about 317 girls were abducted from Government Girls Science Secondary School Jangebe in Jangebe, Zamfara State by unknown gunmen in the early hours of today February 26.

Yaro said a joint search and rescue operation is already underway with a view to rescuing the 317 students kidnapped by the gunmen.

The police commissioner also disclosed that the Force Commander of Operations Hadarin Daji, Major General Aminu Bande, Brigade Commander 1 Brigade, Nigeria Army Gusau, and other state government officials led a heavily armed Re-enforcement team to Jangebe to complement the ongoing rescue operation in the locations where the students were believed to have been whisked to.

He appealed to everyone to be calm as joint efforts of the police and other security agencies will surely lead to a successful rescue of the students.
