Suspected bandits have abducted Alhassan Adamu, the Emir of Kajuru, in Kajuru LGA of Kaduna state.

Mohammed Jalige, spokesman of Kaduna state police command, told NAN that the incident happened in the early hours of today.

It was gathered that the bandits numbering over 200 stormed the emirate, firing gunshots, before proceeding to the Emir’s palace and taking him and 13 members of his family away.

Three women, two of his grandchildren, three of his aides and five others were abducted.

Jalige said the second class traditional ruler and the other victims were kidnapped at his residence.

He said a combined team comprising members of the police mobile force, operatives of operation Puff Adder and anti-kidnapping squad of the Kaduna state police command have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers, with a view to rescuing the victims and arresting the criminals.

“The bandits came around 12:30 am and broke the gate to the palace. After breaking the gate to the palace, they went and broke the door to the emir’s room,” a resident told newsmen.

“They kidnapped the emir, his daughter and four grandchildren. The bandits also entered three other houses and abducted 9 people including a nursing mother.”
