An official of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) told the Punch that the cases were detected during the scheme’s compulsory COVID-19 test carried out on prospective corps members and visitors to the orientation camp.

According to the official, the affected prospective corps members have been taken to the isolation centre situated within the camp at Sibre close to Jalingo, the state capital.

“We are not allowed to speak to the press on any issue. As far as COVID-19 is concerned, only the National Secretariat can comment,” the source was quoted as saying.

“But in confidence, I can confirm to you that we have 21 positive cases of COVID-19 in our camp in Sibre, but there is no course for alarm.

“All the 21 cases are from prospective corps members who have not been admitted in the camp.

“From the gate where they tested positive, they were taken to the isolation centre in the camp where they are being treated. After some time, their sample will be taken again to test their status.
