Biopic on Yahaya Bello set for December 2021 debut
A biopic of Yahaya Bello, Kogi state governor, has been billed for release in December 2021.
Seun Oloketuyi, the producer of the movie touted as an analysis of the governor’s life, announced the development on Friday.
Oloketuyi, who is also the founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) awards, said that the movie is titled ‘Yahaya the White Lion’.
He described Bello as “ever-smiling, unassuming and modest”, saying his life was well-dramatised in the movie.
Oloketuyi said the movie will feature Ali Nuhu as Bello and Roseanne Chikwendu as Rashidat, the governor’s wife.
According to the producer, the biopic movie, directed by Tunde Laoye, will debut in December 2021.
“So many things have been said about the man, Yahaya Bello, and so much is still unknown about who he really is,” he said.
“This movie is an attempt to bring out the facts, the governor’s background, growth and rise in politics, and his ambition. It is basically to set the record straight about the gentleman.
“In many cases, biopics are not helpful as quality life lessons because too much time has passed between the lifetime of the subject and the time the movie is made.
“For this reason, people simply enjoy biopics as tools of entertainment and as documentation of the history of a different time; this is where Seun Oloketuyi’s latest biopic, ‘Yahaya, the White Lion’ roars differently.”

Iyabo Ojo addresses claim of involvement in Mohbad’s death
Iyabo Ojo, the Nollywood actress, has addressed claims linking her to the death of late singer Mohbad.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023. He was buried the following day. On September 21, the body of the music star was exhumed by the police for autopsy.
The circumstances surrounding his death have continued to stir up controversies.
In a recent episode of the ‘Glass House’ podcast with comedian AY Makun, Iyabo stated that some people insinuated she was involved in Mohbad’s death.
The 46-year-old actress also expressed frustration with the allegations, questioning why she would fight for Mohbad’s autopsy if she had something to hide.
Iyabo clarified that she wasn’t close to Mohbad, having met him only once at a music festival.
She described him as a “cool boy” who seemed to be going through his own struggles.
“They were even insinuating that maybe I killed Mohbad. I was not around when Mohbad died. I was not close to him. I did not really know him that much. My encounter with him was during One Africa music fest,” she said.
“For the few days that we were together, I just knew that he was a cool boy, had his own thing he was going through and doing his music. If I killed him, then why was I fighting for his body to be exhumed for autopsy? There was a time they said I was paid. They also said I was looking for a political position.”
