Popular Nollywood actress accused of brutalising nanny over son’s treatment

A nanny, Motunrayo Azeez, has accused a Nollywood actress, Wunmi Toriola, of brutalising her over allegations of drugging her son at their residence on Medina Estate in the Gbagada area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that Toriola, who went to work on Friday, left her son in the care of Azeez.

It was also gathered that the nanny went to pick the boy after school hours and took him home.

When they got home, Azeez claimed that she fed the child and took him outside the compound to play.

Shortly afterwards, the nanny said she discovered that the boy was running a temperature and she gave him some medication.

Matters took another turn when Toriola, who was monitoring the situation on a CCTV device connected to her mobile phone, became angry.

“She asked why I gave the baby drugs without her permission and I apologised for that, but she started accusing me of always drugging her son to make him sleep and I told her that yesterday (Friday) was the first time I would give him the drugs: Paracetamol and Vitamin C, with the cough drug she bought.

“I was surprised about the allegation because I had no reason to drug her son; but she said she did not want to meet at home when she returned. So, I packed my bags and sat at the entrance of the gate outside, but she later called the gateman not to allow me to go out.

“When she came back around 8pm, she started shouting and cursing me. She later said I should enter her car that we were going to a police station. I entered the car because my mind was clean towards her and her son. Instead of driving to the police station, she drove to the estate gate and dropped me with the guards and told them that they must not allow me to go.

“She started beating me at the gate and later carried me back home. When we got home, she ordered that I should be locked inside a room; later, her husband called a soldier, who came to beat me with a horsewhip and used electric shocker on me,” Azeez said.

The 27-year-old nanny noted that the actress vowed to lock her up in the house for three weeks to monitor her son’s health.

However, when Azeez’s mother pleaded on her behalf, the actress reportedly took her to a police station to write an undertaking.

Kate Henshaw clarifies calling out Davido for not greeting her

Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has explained why she spoke about Davido not greeting her at a previous event, stressing that she was simply answering a question.

During a recent appearance on Isbae U’s show, Curiousity Made Me Ask, the actress was asked, “Sorry, why did you go to an interview to report Davido because he didn’t greet you?”

Appalled by the question, Kate Henshaw stressed that she did not report the singer to anyone.

She retorted, “I was asked a question, and I answered it. I didn’t report anybody; I responded to the question. What is ‘report?’ What does report mean?”

“They asked about the person, and I was speaking about the knowledge and interaction that I had. I didn’t report, and we even had a conversation after that, so it’s really none of your business. That’s what you people do; you look for strife,” she added.

Shortly after her statement, Isbae U brought in a Davido lookalike to prostrate in front of her and apologise for the singer’s shortcomings.

This comes after Henshaw revealed that she was not a fan of Davido during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo in December 2023. At the time, she recalled an occasion where she met the singer, but he did not acknowledge her presence.

When asked about Davido, Kate Henshaw said, “Well, I’m not a fan. I like his music, but personally, I don’t know him. I’ve met him; he didn’t greet me. I’m sorry. No, I’m not sorry. I’m old enough. He didn’t greet, and for me, I believe he should be respectful. For me, personality matters.”

Dammy Krane reacts as Kwam 1 asks him, Davido to end rift

Dammy Krane has reacted to calls from Wasiu Ayinde, the Fuji singer fondly called Kwam 1, to end his online rift with Davido.

The feud between Krane and Davido started last year after the former called out the latter over alleged debt.

Krane said the ‘Timeless’ hitmaker refused to pay him for his songwriting contribution to a song. He also accused Davido of “ruining” his record label deal with Sony Music.

Reacting to Krane’s allegations, Davido described his colleague as “ungrateful”.

Davido said he “never got paid” for his music collaborations with Krane. He also claimed that he “housed and fed” the singer when he was “homeless”.

Since then, Krane has continued to attack Davido on social media; even accusing him of being involved in the death of his friend Tagbo Umeike.

Umeike died from alleged alcohol poisoning in October 2017 after his birthday party at Shisha Lounge in Lekki, Lagos state.

Davido previously dismissed claims that he had a hand in his friend’s death. He also threatened to sue Krane for “defamation of character and cyberbullying”.

Krane, however, continued to call out Davido — despite the legal threat.

Weighing in on the ongoing feud during a live performance while on his musical tour in the United States, Kwam 1 called for peace between the two singer.

“I want to send you on an errand. Dammy Krane there should not any fight again,” Ayinde sings.

“Whatever it is that is there should be resolved. I have stamped it. I must not hear anything about it again. You will not bury your child.

“You guys will not also die in my eyes. Your prayers will be answered. I have also told David to forgive all issues.”

Reacting to the Fuji icon’s appeal, Krane said he will no longer call out Davido over Umeike’s demise.

Krane, however, stressed that Davido should pay for his songwriting service.

“SO Davido SETUP A MEETING WIT MY MUM IN YANKEE LOL. I UNDERSTAND ALL,” he wrote on X.

“I’LL LEAVE D TAGBO MATTER TO GOD BECAUSE OF GOOD PEOPLE LIKE FAMILY ,K1 DE ULTIMATE..

“BUT DAVID PAY FOR THE SONG I WROTE & ROYALTIES

“PS: EVIL PREVAIL WHEN GOOD PEOPLE REFUSE TO TALK – INDUSTRY LANDLORD.”

Burna Boy kicks as Davido’s signee Logos Olori claims he uses songwriters

Burna Boy has dismissed a claim by Logos Olori, the fast-rising singer signed to Davido’s music label, that he uses songwriters.

In a recent interview with City 105.1 FM, Olori argued that most big names in the music industry employ songwriters because of their busy schedules.

He also suggested that the “Big Three” — Davido Wizkid, and Burna Boy — occasionally hire music creators.

“Most people that shame artists for using songwriters don’t know much about the music business,” he said.

“As a musician, you tend to write your songs most times when you are up-and-coming. When you’ve 10 shows in a week in different countries, you’ll understand that you need a songwriter.

“Chris Brown has a songwriter, Michael Jackson had a songwriter. Davido is currently on tour immediately after his wedding. He writes his songs sometimes but most times he has to do the business part of it.

“That’s how Burna Boy is, that’s how most artists are even Wizkid but they don’t just put it out there but if you go to Spotify to check for the credits of their songs, you will see that they use songwriters as well.”

However, the self-proclaimed ‘African Giant’ took to his X page to argue that he does not employ the services of music creators.

The Afro-fusion singer maintained that names credited as songwriters on his songs are the producers due to western music policies.

“Any name you see credited on my songs are only producers of the songs or featured artists not writers,” he wrote.

“But for some reason the western world considers producers as writers of the instrumentals and they just throw their names on there as writers. Nobody fit write for Odogwu.”

In 2020, the singer admitted he hired the services of songwriter Peruzzi — but on one occasion.
