Yinka Quadri narrates how his rumoured death troubled his family
Yinka Quadri, the ace Yoruba actor, has spoken out about the impact of his rumoured death on his family.
Rumours claiming Quadri had passed away went viral In June, causing concern among his fans and family members.
The actor took to his social media pages to debunk the rumour and confirm that he was “alive and well”.
In a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, the 65-year-old expressed disappointment with the individuals who spread the false news.
Quadri revealed that his children, who were overseas at the time, became worried when they heard about the rumoured death.
He said they started calling him frequently to confirm the news, which caused unnecessary “stress and anxiety” for the family.
“If it happened to someone who just came into the industry, the person will likely experience a setback. Or the person would leave the industry. But because this profession is inborn. That is not the first time. We have heard so many things in the past,” he said.
“Is it not because of social media that it is now being escalated? When I saw it I said ‘Weldone, you content creators’. Although when I saw it it was not as if I was happy. Just like the words of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu saying he stays off social media.
“No one would be happy whenever people spread rumours about them. Most especially, rumoured death. You will recall that I said I will not curse the person, but I leave him or her to God’s judgment.
“If the person thinks it is by spoiling another person’s name or causing sadness in another person’s family is an opportunity to attain success… because it got to a stage that it started to pain me.
“Despite the fact that my children are overseas and we have constant communication weekly or every three days, when they informed them they were like ‘I still spoke to Daddy last week’. Then they start calling.
“It got to a stage where everybody became troubled. They now started calling in the morning, put a call through in the afternoon, and call again in the evening to confirm.
“And I now said, the person that did this will get the right reward from God. Because it is not something good. My head does not pray for the person. Why should you wish me death? I wanted to keep quiet. Some people even thought I created the story myself. I asked if they thought I was looking for fame or name.”

My ex Dami is the reason I haven’t won Grammy, says Portable
Portable, the controversial singer, has attributed his failure to win a Grammy award to Queen Dami, his former lover who is a one-time wife of Lamidi Adeyele, the late Alaafin of Oyo.
In a recent Instagram live session with media personality Daddy Freeze, Portable opened up about his tumultuous relationship with Dami, claiming it negatively affected his personal and professional life.
‘‘She is one of the reasons I don’t have a Grammy award, considering how much effort I put into my music,” he claimed.
“She was not loyal and had sexual relations with other men when we dated. Usually, if I date a woman who is faithful to me, I will cash out, but if she frolics or has sexual relationships with other men, I will retrogress. I would have won a Grammy by now if she hadn’t been in my life.”
The singer also tendered an apology to the late Alaafin and the royal palace.
“Everybody should forgive me, including the Alaafin of Oyo. Please forgive me if I have said anything bad about the palace or the late Alaafin,” he said.
Rumours of Portable and Dami’s relationship began circulating in August 2023, but the pair recently parted ways after the singer accused her of “polygamy and prostitution.”

Lawyer addresses fears of Speed Darlington spending Christmas in prison
Stan Alieke, the legal representative of Speed Darlington, has opened up about the singer’s prolonged detention by the police.
Last month, Darlington was arrested while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo state.
Deji Adeyanju, a human rights lawyer, had alleged that Burna Boy, the Afrofusion star, was responsible for the rapper’s arrest.
Alieke earlier revealed that weeks after Darlington’s arrest, the police had denied him access to bail.
The lawyer also called on the law enforcement agency police not to “trample on my client’s constitutional rights”.
There have been concerns in the past days that the rapper might spend the festive period in prison.
Speaking with TheCable Lifestyle on Thursday, Alieke said the police claimed Darlington jumped bail the first time, which is why they are refusing to grant him administrative bail.
The lawyer also alleged that “high powers” are involved in the matter. He argued that Darlington’s detention is “unfair”.
“The reason Speed Darlington has not been released is because police do not want to grant him administrative bail. We asked them for their reason and they said he jumped bail the first time,” he said.
“It is not a secret that a lot of high powers are interested in the matter. And we are making arrangements to seek a court bail at least. The dates that were given to us for him to be arraigned in court were the 14th and 15th of January next year.
“Court claiming that they have scheduled for the year. We even tried to arraign and bring him to court last week Thursday. The law says they cannot hear us if the matter is not on the court list.
Alieke revealed that they have filed a bail application, which will be heard in court on Friday.
He said he is hopeful that Darlington will be granted bail and released from detention before Christmas.
“He is not spending Christmas and New Year in detention. We have been doing all we can. We are moving a motion. We will be in court again tomorrow,” he said.
“We will apply ex-parte. Hopefully, after tomorrow he will probably be granted bail. What is causing the delay is that there is no proper schedule to get a closer date. Once he is arraigned in court, why not? We would meet the bail. No judge would not want to grant him bail, because he has been in detention for the past four weeks for a mere civil action.
“It is just to get a proper scheduling of the court. The reason he is not granted administrative bail is something that is beyond my comprehension. It is obvious that some high-profile persons are involved in this matter.”
