Catholic group wants lesbian nun movie banned — before it premieres tomorrow being Good Friday

The Irish Society for Christian Civilisation has kicked against the release of ‘Benedetta’, a movie featuring a lesbian nun.

The contentious movie is an erotic drama based on a 17th-century nun entangled in a same-sex affair.

The film, which is set to be released on Good Friday, April 15, was directed by Paul Verhoeven, a controversial Dutch filmmaker.

According to the Irish Catholic organisation, the movie must be stopped from showing across cinemas in the UK and Ireland.

petition by the organisation, which has now been signed by over thirteen thousand people, described the film as “the highly touted, blasphemous, and impure”.

The organisation said the movie is a “smart smuck attack on the Holy Catholic Church, which horribly insults Our Lady and her Son”.

Damien Murphy, a spokesman for the group, said: “To launch this film on Good Friday is a calculated insult to Christians everywhere.

“And shame on the Queen’s Film Theatre in Belfast for permitting this showing at any time, but especially on this highly significant religious occasion.”

‘Benedetta’ has been outlawed in Singapore, where it was refused classification and it was also met with protest at the New York Film Festival in 2021.

The movie was adapted from the 1986 non-fiction book, ‘Immodest Acts: The Life of a Lesbian Nun in Renaissance Italy’, written by Judith C. Brown.

Many pastors not enjoying marriage… they’re just enduring it, says Mike Bamiloye

Mike Bamiloye has claimed that several pastors are currently enduring their marriages rather than enjoying them.

In a post via social media, the founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries International spoke about wives who make their marriages difficult.

He said some pastors’ wives believe they can use their husbands’ spiritual calling to manipulate them.

He said they assume that their husbands cannot resort to physical abuse or divorce due to their religious obligations.

Bamiloye referred to this behaviour as a form of “blackmail”.

“Several women believe that a pastor cannot be at them like unbelievers or divorce them at will. They use the man’s calling/ministry to blackmail him. Several pastors are not enjoying their marriage but enduring it,” he wrote.

This is not the first time Bamiloye has spoken on marriage-related issues.

Last year, he argued that many women in this generation are not prepared for marriage.

He also tackled Christian women who deny their husbands intimacy, describing such actions as “unsubmissive and insensitive”.

Bamiloye is also a filmmaker and the founder of Mount Zion Television.

He has been married to Gloria Bamiloye, a Nigerian actress and evangelist, since October 8, 1988.

TD Jakes suffers health scare after sermon

TD Jakes, bishop of The Potter’s House, a megachurch in the United States, suffered a health scare after delivering a sermon on Sunday.

As Jakes rounded off his sermon with a prayer, social media videos showed how his movements slowed.

“The meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, oh Lord,” Jakes prayed amid laboured breaths.

“My strength and my redeemer, let them go in peace,” he added with his head bowed while slowly lowering the microphone.

Soon afterwards, the bishop’s head began to bob back and forth as his body jerked awkwardly.

Church officials ran towards him to prevent an imminent collapse.

In a statement on Facebook, The Potter’s House said the renowned pastor and author received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.

“The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers,” the statement added.

The church did not share if Jakes was hospitalised following the incident or what may have caused it.

You return to square one if you don’t pay tithe, says Becky Enenche

Becky Enenche, the wife of Paul Enenche, senior pastor of Dunamis International gospel Centre (DIGC), has stressed the significance of consistent tithe payment.

In an undated video circulating on social media, Becky advised Christians to constantly pay their tithe, which she refers to as “returning God’s portion”.

The clergywoman also warned that whenever a Christian fails to pay their tithe, they go “back to square one”.

Enenche also likened tithe defaulters to someone who typed a long text and mistakenly pressed the delete button.

“Paying your tithe, paying your tithe, returning God’s portion must be done consistently. Every time you miss your tithe, you go back to square one. The ones you did before become nullified,” she said.

“It is like you pressed a delete button, gbam. And all the work you did before is gone. Have you ever been typing and somebody entered the room or something mistakenly? You have typed enough text.

“The content of what you’ve typed is sufficient and you are not saving as you were typing and suddenly you press delete. You can imagine how that feels. Now what more of such a thing as your tithe.”
