Senators who threatened to impeach Buhari are the minority of minorities, they won’t succeed, says Femi Adesina
Femi Adesina, presidential spokesperson, says senators who threatened impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari over rising insecurity are “minority of minorities”.
Adesina spoke on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislators in the senate staged a walkout after a motion by Philip Aduda, minority leader, was dismissed.
The lawmakers left the chamber after Senate President Ahmad Lawan did not allow Aduda to present his motion on insecurity.
Speaking after the walkout, the minority leader said he wanted to give President Muhammadu Buhari an ultimatum to address insecurity in the country — or face impeachment proceedings.
Reacting to the impeachment threat, Adesina said the senators are wasting the country’s time, adding that they cannot achieve the threat.
“The truth is that in this kind of scenario, minority will always have its say while the majority will have its way. You know the configuration of the national assembly. Those who spoke today are the minority of minorities,” he said.
“They would have their say as it is needful in a democracy, but it won’t go beyond that. I think it was just bravado and very sadly, security is not something you subject to bravado.
“You don’t begin to issue flippant ultimatums in something that is a matter of life and death.
“They know in their heart of hearts that they cannot achieve what they are saying. They are just wasting the country’s time, wasting the time of the upper chamber of the national assembly; they know that they cannot achieve it.”
Asked if Buhari has reacted to the recent reports of gunshots in Abuja, the presidential spokesperson said he is not aware of any gunshots in the country’s capital.
“Well, you said there were gunshots that were heard in town. I’m not aware of it. There have been rumours all over the place,” he said.
“I don’t think you are depending on those rumours. What happened in Bwari is in public domain. Everybody knows that to say there were gunshots in town, and I’m not privy to that unless you want to substantiate it.
“Now, the question is – are those minority lawmakers responding now because the thing is coming near to Abuja, their comfort zone? Is that why they are playing to the gallery? Well, they are Nigerians and they have the right to talk about what is happening in the country.”

Death Of Priscilla Ocheme: Police Committed To Thorough, Unbiased Investigation
As IGP Orders SIU to Take Over Case.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its commitment to the thorough investigation of the recent tragic case involving the death of Priscilla Ocheme, a young woman who went missing after visiting her boyfriend, one Ekhousuehi Elvis, at his home in Goshen Estate, Pyakasa, FCT, on September 22, 2024.
Priscilla’s lifeless body was subsequently discovered, raising significant concerns.
The case was promptly reported to the office of the Assistant Inspector-General Zone 7 Abuja, and Elvis, as a primary suspect, was invited to provide his account of the events leading to Priscilla’s sudden disappearance.
However, instead of reporting as requested, Elvis proceeded to another police formation in Lagos State to file a counter-petition.
In light of this development, and to maintain clarity and avoid duplication in the ongoing investigations, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM., has ordered the IGP-Special Investigation Unit to take over the case, ensuring that it receives the attention and sensitivity it requires.
The primary suspect in the investigation, Ekhousuehi Elvis, and other suspects arrested in connection with the case are presently in the police custody where they are being interrogated.
It is important to clarify that contrary to the rumours that have been circulating, Elvis or any of the suspects is not experiencing any form of mistreatment.
The IGP emphasizes the importance of justice and thoroughness in this investigation. The Special Investigation Unit is equipped to handle cases of this nature and will investigate thoroughly to uncover the truth.
The Nigeria Police Force reassures the public of its commitment to transparency and diligence throughout the process.
As investigations progress, we urge members of the public to disregard any form of calumny. Anyone with relevant information is hereby urged to come forward and assist the Police in ensuring Justice for Priscilla Ocheme and her family.

“The public is, however, assured that the collaborative efforts with the Federal Fire Service and other emergency responders, including the Nigerian Police, have put the situation under control and confined it to the studio section of the U-shaped, one-storey building where it emanated,” a post by the agency on X reads.
“While the cause of the fire is yet unknown, with no report of any casualty, damping down of the fire embers continues. Update to follow as situation demands.”
