‘My mother said I was a seductress’ – Ese Walter reflects on life after revealing alleged affair with Biodun Fatoyinbo
Nigerian yoga instructor and therapist, Ese Walter who revealed in 2013 that she had an affair with the senior pastor of the Commonwealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, has reflected on how her life changed after the controversy.
In a lengthy post shared via her Facebook page on Sunday, September 11, 2022, the mother of three recounted how her life turned around and how marriage didn’t even help issues.
“Marriage was supposed to be the escape. Shortly after the 2013 blog went viral, I left the Country. It was hard to do anything. Biodun himself said if I told, my life would be destroyed. I believed him. Perhaps that belief propelled me down the aisle,” she wrote.
“They say behind every anger is fear. My seemingly great anger was laced with greater fear. I knew life would not be the same again and I didn’t know what else to do. Some friends turned on me, Mother said I was a seductress and wanted to bring the man of god, down.”
Walter recounted how the people she thought loved her remained silent all through her ordeal.
“I couldn’t imagine the shame the people who loved me felt but I can remember the silence. I remember the shame, guilt and uncertainty that covered me like a blanket. What was I going to do with my destroyed life? Get married. Start a family and focus there,” she added.
“For someone who didn’t have marriage plans before that time, I suspected it was a wrong move but I figured I could handle it. After marriage, I didn’t know how to integrate the new human that was suddenly my new family. I saw him as a stranger. Kind of like how I perceived Father in Mother’s eyes. Father didn’t feel like her family which only confused the family that they built for me.”
The mother of three recounted how her marriage was a sham.
“It was as though Mother and her children were the family and Father was the bringer of things… It took a while to notice I had created the same dynamic in my own family. My kids felt like my family and their dad felt like the stranger that sleeps in the house sometimes,” she wrote.
“Then there was the growing resentment toward the stranger. I don’t even remember why but I remember that there was always something hanging in my mind about him. Plus, when he did things that I thought were wrong, forgiveness was not an option.”
“I’d move out and start thinking of a divorce. It was as though if I got into the marriage to satisfy something but had no plans of building or working on it. As my children came, my focus shifted more. I became a stay-at-home mum and did my best with keeping house matters and the little humans moving.”
“Anytime I complain about my partner, I hear, ‘go and work.’ Mother said he was going to leave my stay-at-home ass for a working woman one day. She said I’d soon be below his level (whatever that means)”
“As much as I tried to act like her talk didn’t bother me, the words haunted me many times when I’d be in the kitchen making a meal or when I’m up at 2 am tending to a newborn. The gossip blogs continued to drag the blog story wherever Ese Walter was mentioned, despite Ese Walter marrying husband and birthing babies.”
“The marriage wasn’t what I thought it would be. I was a single-married woman and if I complained, it was, ‘at least you have your children to focus on.’ I didn’t get married to an adult man to now focus on small children.”
“I tried though. I focused on the little people, I learned about the early development of the brain, I learned about regulating one’s nervous system, I examined why I shout, why I doubt myself and how to manage my wounds so I don’t bleed on my children.”
“The marriage didn’t survive. It was actually dead from the start and finally went under. Sometimes I’d crawl back to make peace and try to be a wife. I would decide not to check phones, don’t ask too many questions about why he wasn’t home or where he went….Just be a loving wife and ignore those inner longings and questions.”
“But it was hard to pretend not to feel when I am familiar with my emotions and have been since I was little. When I left the last time, it was with no money, no plans and three children. Life was going to bury us or I was going to win. Life has not yet buried us.”
In 2013, Fatoyinbo’s well-curated public image took a hit when a former member of his congregation, Walter, revealed that she had a week-long affair with him that left her scarred enough to abandon the church. It’s worthy to note that he was already married when this alleged affair happened.
Even though she admitted that she was not raped, Walter, felt manipulated and abused by Fatoyinbo who she said subsequently played mind games on her to keep the affair between them. She even noted that he impressed upon her the “Touch not my anointed” doctrine to keep the affair from becoming public knowledge.

Odumodublvck reveals how Don Jazzy gave him $10k the day he met him for collabo
Odumodublvck, the Nigerian rapper, has recalled how Don Jazzy, the music producer, gave him $10,000 during one of their meetings.
In a recent interview on Beat 97.9FM, the rapper, whose real name is Tochukwu Ojogwu, said he had reached out to Don Jazzy to collaborate on his song ‘Asampete’.
The 31-year-old said he felt that the music producer’s vocals were needed to complete the track.
Odumodublvck said during his visit to Don Jazzy’s residence, he was given the money and told that he could keep all the royalties from the song.
He added that Don Jazzy even offered to be featured as an artiste on the track.
“Don Jazzy is the king of Afrobeats. But ask anybody there is nobody who is more original than Don Jazzy. Don Jazzy is an OG. Respect to my brothers Burna, Wiz, Olamide, Dave all of us used to look up to him. Like the way we used to look up to them — Wizkid and David, they used to look up to him,” he said.
“…I just hit him up. The first day we did ‘Asampere’, I recorded a vocal that sounded like Don Jazzy’s vocal and I was like Don Jazzy should do it.
“When I went to meet him, he gave me a lot of money. I have to put it out there. I tell them everywhere I go. He gave me $10,000 cash. Don no be for mouth. He still gave me vocals.
“He now told me that I can keep all the royalties and I can keep him as a featured artiste. That day, they still cooked food for me to eat. They gave me turkey. The line for ‘turkey’ was already put in the song and that was God.”

Lil Smart files petition against Naira Marley, Zinoleesky over threat to life
Lil Smart, the Nigerian dancer, has filed a petition against Naira Marley and Zinoleesky over the alleged threat to his life.
On December 9, Smart shared disturbing photos and videos on social media, claiming his life was in danger.
He warned that Naira Marley and Zinoleesky should be held responsible if anything happened to him.
Zinoleesky, however, denied the allegations, accusing Smart of “chasing clout”. He also threatened legal action against the dancer.
In a recent Instagram post, Smart alleged he had previously endured bullying from the singers but lacked the evidence needed to take legal action.
He said he has officially submitted his petition with the necessary evidence to the authorities and is hopeful that the legal system will grant him justice.
“This has not been the first or third time I have been experiencing this bullying. But I did not have enough evidence to face the law. Now, I thank God that I have very good evidence, and I will put everything I have in line to make sure this bullying and threat to life is stopped,” he said.
“With my evidence, I really hope that they are not too big to be apprehended and face the law. I have submitted my petition, and I have provided my evidence to the authorities. By God’s grace, the law that binds us as citizens of Nigeria will make sure I get the justice I deserve.”
Naira Marley is yet to comment on the allegations.
