Student shot dead in YABATECH
An unnamed student has been shot dead at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) in Lagos.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police PRO, confirmed the development to TheCable Lifestyle on Friday.
The spokesperson said the Lagos police command has commenced a probe to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
“It’s confirmed. An investigation has commenced, so I don’t have so many details. I have the name of the person but I can’t let it out yet until we have gotten in contact with his family. That’s the standard practice,” the PRO said.
“He was shot in the head. The shell of the bullet was found. The body has been recovered and taken to the morgue.”
The undergraduate’s death is the latest after a handful of tragedies that struck tertiary institutions over the past months.
