Tope Osoba, the Nollywood actress, has opened up on how she discovered she had breast cancer.

In November, the actress had solicited financial assistance after undergoing her first breast cancer surgery.

In a recent interview with BBC News Yoruba, Tope revealed that she discovered a lump in her breast through a routine self-examination.

She said the doctor initially dismissed the lump, attributing it to her childbearing age.

The actress said her persistence however led to further testing, which revealed that the lump was cancerous.

Tope described the day she received the diagnosis as “one of the worst days of my life”.

“The doctor had earlier told me that I would be placed on medication for five years and, during that period, I must not conceive. At the time, I was 39 years old. I discovered the issue one day while touching my body. I felt something on my breast resembling a bean that hadn’t been there before,” she said.

“Concerned, I went to a private hospital, where the doctor assured me nothing was wrong. The doctor attributed it to the fact that I was at the stage of childbearing but had neither conceived nor breastfed a baby. I initially accepted the doctor’s explanation and went home, but I remained uneasy because my hand kept going to that spot.

“Over time, I noticed it grew larger, making me even more uncomfortable. I got a test, and the results showed it was a lump. It was removed, and I believed everything was fine. However, when further tests were conducted at the hospital, it was discovered to be breast cancer.

“The day I received the diagnosis was one of the worst days of my life. I couldn’t believe I had such an illness. I started worrying—would my breast be removed? Would I die despite all my struggles, having no mother or father to support me? I began praying to God, acknowledging that while I wasn’t deeply religious, I had never wished anyone harm.”

Tope disclosed that additional tests revealed the cancer was contained and hadn’t spread. She expressed gratitude for the financial support she has received so far and then declared that “I am now free from breast cancer”.

Yomi Fabiyi, the actor, has once again taken to the streets to demand justice for the late singer Mohbad, who died under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023.

Fabiyi, who has been seeking justice for Mohbad, organized a “peaceful” protest on February 27, urging youths to join him in the fight.

On Thursday afternoon, Fabiyi led the protesters from the Alausa area of Lagos to the police command in Ikeja, carrying a banner with the inscription “Justice for Mohbad 2025”.

The protest was peaceful, with participants calling for accountability and transparency in the investigation into Mohbad’s death.

The protest comes just days after a magistrate court in Yaba dismissed charges against Mohbad’s ex-record label boss Naira Marley, Sammy Larry, and Prime Boy over their alleged involvement in Mohbad’s death.

However, the Lagos DPP announced that it would prosecute Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad, and Ayobami Sadiq, one of Mohbad’s friends, for reckless and negligent acts contrary to Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Lagos police earlier declared Ogedengbe as “the prime suspect” in the singer’s death.

Mohbad died after receiving an injection administered by the auxiliary nurse.

Omotunde Adebowale, the actress and media personality better known as Lolo 1, has alleged that she was harassed by a police escort of a lawmaker in Lagos.

In a video posted on her Instagram page on Wednesday, the 47-year-old media personality claimed that the police officers threatened to kill her and her driver, and also attempted to seize her car keys.

The incident allegedly occurred when Lolo 1’s vehicle was forced to the side of the road to make way for the lawmaker’s convoy.

In the footage, the actress confronted the police officers, demanding to know why they were treated in such a manner.

Lolo 1 can be heard in the video calling Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos governor, to intervene.

She also claimed that the police officers alleged that she and her driver were attempting to kidnap them, which she vehemently denied.

“Lagos, come and see your people. Governor Sanwo-Olu come and see your people, they want to kill us, they are threatening to kill us. Over what? What honorable is in that car? Come and kill us here, wicked people,” she said.

“They pushed us out of the road and they are still saying that we should park, park for what? We would not move, whatever honorable is in that car would come outside. I am a press person, you cannot kill me.

“You are threatening me, let the honorable in that car come out. You cannot oppress me, I refuse to bow. What did we do? Because you have guns? Governor Sanwo-Olu see what your people are doing, I am press person, you cannot touch me.”

The media personality also narrated the alleged harassment in an interview. She claimed she was wrongfully accused of damaging the government official’s vehicle.

“The police officers had stopped the car; they said I scratched the government car, and they were the ones that scratched me. Three of them came out to my car, took my car key, ordered me into their car… and I said no,” she said.
