Emeka Rollas has been re-elected to serve another three years as president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

Rollas’ tenure as the incumbent AGN president was to end in November 2022.

NAN reports that the AGN elected new national executive council (NEC) members to steer the affairs of the body for the next three years.

The new leadership was elected on Tuesday night at the end of the 2022 Nollywood Actors Summit of the guild held in Benin City, Edo.

Not less than 120 delegates from 20 states voted during the elections, which were held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub.

The election was supervised by Steve Eboh, NEC chairman, and Emma Ogugua, the chairman of the board of trustees (BoT) of the guild.

Emeka Rollas, the incumbent president, was re-elected to continue in his capacity for a fresh three years.

Nazareth Jesse, Marcus Maina, Bukky Fagbuyi, Clement Anigbo, and Moklese Osain all emerged as vice presidents for north-central, north-east, south-west, south-east, and south-south respectively.

Abubakar Sanusi won his bid to become the AGN secretary-general while Chelsea Nwodo emerged as assistant secretary of the guild.

Other elected executives are Emeka Duru as financial secretary, Oby Okafor as treasurer, David Akuma as director of guild services, and Kea Adams as provost.

Speaking on behalf of the executives, Rollas said the new leadership would consolidate the successes of the AGN in the last three years and be more committed to the welfare of members.

He called on members across the country to shun all divisive tendencies and work with the new executives to build a formidable AGN.

“I can say today that all we have done in the past three years was foundation laying, so let us join hands and build on the successes we have so far achieved,” the president said.

Rollas, who was first elected as national president of the AGN in 2019, said a date would soon be announced for the inauguration of the new leadership.

Today, fans woke up to find Wizkid’s latest single ‘Dance’ to have been displayed from the top 100 after occupying the top spot.

The massive deduction has led to speculations of stream deduction and drinking from the chart which are the most common heavy penalties Apple Music applies on streaming manipulation.

‘Kese’, released 15, November 2024, has the second lead single on Wizkid’s upcoming album ‘Morayo’, has enjoyed immediate success on streaming platforms reaching NO. 1 on the Apple Music Nigeria Top 100 just hours after its release.

Its disappearance from Apple Music Nigeria Top 100, has created a massive buzz online with some considering it a penalty for streaming manipulation while others think it might be a glitch from Apple Music.

By precedence, such deductions are penalties with Apple Music taking stronger actions in cracking down on streaming manipulations.

It’s left to be seen if the song would rebound back to its previous chart-topping position as this would give credence to suspicion of a glitch or perhaps, Apple Music has dropped the hammer of the biggest act yet in their effort to curb stream farming.
