“I am very happy and honoured to host the Teranga edition of the biggest music award in Africa, AFRIMA right here in Senegal, the people of Senegal are excited about this historical feat, given that this is the first time the awards will be held in a Francophone country.”

In his remark, Dada thanked the president and the people of Senegal for their commitment to host the award ceremony.

He also assured that the 8th edition will go down in history as AFRIMA’s best and biggest so far.

Iyabo Ojo, the Nollywood actress, has addressed claims linking her to the death of late singer Mohbad.

Mohbad died on September 12, 2023. He was buried the following day. On September 21, the body of the music star was exhumed by the police for autopsy.

The circumstances surrounding his death have continued to stir up controversies.

In a recent episode of the ‘Glass House’ podcast with comedian AY Makun, Iyabo stated that some people insinuated she was involved in Mohbad’s death.

The 46-year-old actress also expressed frustration with the allegations, questioning why she would fight for Mohbad’s autopsy if she had something to hide.

Iyabo clarified that she wasn’t close to Mohbad, having met him only once at a music festival.

She described him as a “cool boy” who seemed to be going through his own struggles.

“They were even insinuating that maybe I killed Mohbad. I was not around when Mohbad died. I was not close to him. I did not really know him that much. My encounter with him was during One Africa music fest,” she said.

“For the few days that we were together, I just knew that he was a cool boy, had his own thing he was going through and doing his music. If I killed him, then why was I fighting for his body to be exhumed for autopsy? There was a time they said I was paid. They also said I was looking for a political position.”
