Lagos pupil sent home sold Obi’s poster to us for N50, colleagues claim (Video)

A video detailing incidents that led the principal of Odomola Junior Secondary School in Epe, Lagos, to allegedly send a 10-year-old pupil home has surfaced online.

On Tuesday, the father of the girl claimed the principal sent his daughter home for using the poster of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), on her books.

The father of the pupil also accompanied his message with a note allegedly issued by the principal to the pupil to go home and “campaign for Peter Obi against the wish of Lagosians”.

The incident provoked a chorus of condemnation on social media platforms.

In the wake of the widespread backlash, a video of the girl’s colleagues also wrapping their books with Obi’s poster has found its way online.

In the video, a teacher was about to teach the class when she noticed several pupils with campaign posters on their desks.

The pupils were seen trying to wrap their exercise books with the poster.

Startled by the development, the teacher started interrogating the students to find out how they got the posters.

The students claimed they bought the poster from the 10-year-old pupil to the dismay of the teacher.

“I bought six copies of the poster from her for N50,” one of them said.

“Are you people campaigning or what? When I want to teach… you people have turned this place into politicians’ class…this girl is doing business selling posters for N50 within the school,” the teacher was heard lamenting.

The Lagos ministry of education had earlier announced it has commenced an investigation into the matter.
