Mr Ibu campaigned for you, pay his medical bills, Reno Omokri tells Obi

Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has called on Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, to pay the medical bills of John Mr. Ibu Okafor who is currently battling with an undisclosed illness.

On Wednesday, the ace actor took to Instagram to plead for financial assistance.

Since a video of Ibu on the sickbed hit the internet, several people have announced their donations for the ailing actor.

Weighing in on Ibu’s predicament, Omokri took to his X handle to appeal to his followers and the public to support the film star.

He also urged the politician to assist Ibu by paying his medical bills.

The ex-media aide said the comic actor “campaigned” for the politician during the February presidential election, adding that “Obi must help Mr Ibu in his time of need”.

“I sympathise with John Ikechukwu Okafor, AKA Mr. Ibu, over his ailment, and I urge all #RenosNuggeteers to donate to the account number he put out. Please do not ignore his cries for help. I also urge members of the public to donate,” he wrote.

“However, this is a man who publicly endorsed Peter Obi. He and his daughter danced for Peter Obi and broke the internet. They went out on the streets campaigning for Obi. The same Peter Obi who boasted that he is richer than President Biden of the US, who at the time of Peter’s boast was worth $8.2 million.

“After all that John Okafor did for him, perhaps Mr. Peter Obi can support him by paying Mr. Ibu’s medical bills. I am even surprised that Peter Obi did not remember to post about Mr. Ibu on his birthday yesterday. Even at that, Peter Obi should help him in his time of need.”

Yemi Solade, the Nigerian actor, has fired back at an Instagram user who criticised his role in a new film titled ‘5Alive’.

The controversy began when fellow actor Rotimi Salami shared a promotional video on Instagram, showcasing Yemi and co-star Sanusi Izihaq (Apa) in an intimate scene.

Solade appeared to have kissed Izihaq on the cheek in the video that portrayed the two men as lovers.

The footage provoked a chorus of condemnation, with critics accusing the actors of attempting to promote homosexuality.

One critic, known as Dunne Black, launched a personal attack on Yemi, writing in Yoruba, “Mo sorry but ara yin o ya” which translates to, “I’m sorry, but you are not okay”.

Solade responded to the criticism with fierce retorts in Yoruba.

“Orí bàbá ẹ to wà ní ọgbà wèrè lo ń bá wí,” he fired back — meaning “It’s your father’s head in the asylum you are talking to”.
