People pay now to watch me sing – Ayra Starr recounts selling vegetables, fruits with her grandmother

Ayra Starr, the Nigerian singer, has recalled her struggles a couple of years ago.

In a post on her Instastory, the songstress revealed she used to sell vegetables and fruits with her grandmother six years ago.

The Mavin Records signee said she would often sing for customers who came to buy vegetables and fruits from their shop.

Starr, however, appreciated God for “really blessing me” that she can now earn money from music.

In February, the singer revealed how her belief in God uplifted her music career through the Mavin Records deal.

“I just allowed God to manifest his grace through me. I use to model because I had to make little money for school but I always knew music was going to come,” she had said.

“The way music manifested, the way it came into my life was like if I had not believed in God, it wouldn’t have happened. I just posted a cover on Instagram that day but I didn’t want to post it.

“I was like it’s too ugly, it’s too emotional, I shouldn’t post it and something kept telling me not to post it, but I posted it.

“It was not up to an hour, my record label boss saw the video and sent me a message like oh come to the studio – and here I am today.”
