Fire guts UNICAL’s registry unit (Video)
A fire outbreak occurred at the registry unit of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) on Thursday night.
Viral footage on social media captured how the building was engulfed in flames.
Some persons were also seen in the footage trying to salvage the little left of the building that had been reduced to ashes.
They could also be heard appealing for assistance from the fire service.
“UNICAL is on fire, UNICAL is burning right now. There is a fire outbreak just behind students affairs,” a witness could be heard saying.
“We need fire services to come to our aid right now. The school is burning, we need urgent attention right now. You can see the flames, please we need solution”.

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) Registry Unit was reportedly gutted by fire.
The incident occurred on Thursday night, February 1, 2024.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined at the time of this report. The management of the institution is also yet to release a statement on the fire incident.
