Continuing his global ascension, Asake released his third album ‘Lungu Boy’. The album was released on August 9, 2024, and it features several superstars including Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Wizkid, British rappers Central Cee and Stormzy, American superstar Travis Scott, and Brazilian singer Ludmila.

Asake’s third album reached NO. 2 on the Apple Music chart hours after its release. With this feat, Asake equals the record for the highest-charting Nigerian album on the platform jointly held by Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them’ and Davido ‘Timeless’.

‘Lungu Boy’ also reached NO. 1 on Apple Music UK Chart thereby making it his third album to reach that milestone following his debut album ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ and his sophomore album ‘Work of Art’.

The album comes ahead of Asake’s upcoming ‘Lungu Boy’ tour which will include stops at the famous O2 Arena he previously headlined in 2023 and the iconic Madison Square Garden which will make him only the fourth Nigerian artist to headline the venue.

Asake’s ‘Lungu Boy’ is his third in three years in a breathless run of hits that has made him an era-defining superstar.

Since breaking into the mainstream, Asake has been on a steady ascension. His debut album ‘Mr. Money With The Vibe’ won the Album of the Year prize at the 2023 Headies Awards. His second album ‘Work of Art’ had the hit single ‘Lonely At The Top’ which set the record for longest charting song on TurnTable Top 100.

Tyrese Gibson has been taken into custody after he failed to pay the monthly $10,000 child support payments a judge ordered him to make to his ex Samantha Lee.

Gibson – who shares five-year-old daughter Soraya with Lee – was held in contempt of court Monday morning during a hearing over the matter.

Judge Kevin Farmer was upset over Gibson’s refusal to make the monthly $10,000 child support payments the actor was ordered to begin paying in April 2023.

Farmer held Gibson in contempt of court Monday. And the ‘Fast & Furious’ actor was placed in handcuffs by the bailiff and taken out of the courtroom.

The judge offered Gibson the chance to resolve the issue and avoid jail time if he paid $73,000. That figure includes Samantha’s attorney fees, which total $7,500.

Gibson had been making payments to Lee. However, it has not been the $10,000 figure the judge ordered him to begin making last year.

Tyrese Gibson has been paying his ex around $2,200 every month as of 2023.

Insiders said Gibson is currently in the process of sorting out the $73K payment.

Like Tems, Ayra Starr says she has ‘never fallen in love’

Oyinkansola Aderigbigbe, the Nigerian singer better known as Ayra Starr, says she has “never fallen in love”.

The Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star spoke about her love life in a recent interview with Dazed Magazine.

Starr, 21, who graced the cover of the latest issue of the British lifestyle magazine, admitted that despite being identified as a “lover girl,” she has never been in a fully committed relationship.

The 21-year-old Mavin Records sensation, now open to finding love, also attributed her single status to her intense focus on music since age 15.

“I want to fall in love. I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ about what love would look like if I was. I am a lover girl deep in my heart, I’m just very strong headed about it. I actually have never been in love. I have been in certain situations – not situationships! – but I have never been in a fully committed relationship,” she said.

“I’ve put myself out there and I’ve tried to see what’s there but I don’t think I’ve had the time. I’ve been working since I was 15, I was modelling, I was doing university, and now I’m on the road.

“It’s me just enjoying myself as a girl. I’m like, let me sing to a cute boy today and I’m looking around because I can – why not?”
