It was after my accident that my parents knew I was taking music seriously – Victony

Nigerian singer Victony has shared that his serious dedication to music became clear to his parents only after he survived a car accident in 2021 that left him in a coma for four days.

He revealed this during a recent interview on Sway’s Universe, stating that he did not receive pushback from his parents regarding his music because it started off as a hobby. According to his account, his family did know that he was going to take it seriously and he himself did not start to until he got into the university.

“I used to do music as a hobby and everybody knew that I loved music but they didn’t think I was going to take it seriously. I was good at school so they never bothered about it and they never thought it would distract me from my education but when I got into the university, that was when I started to take it seriously,” the Risk singer said.

Victony explained that it was after he narrowly escaped death in a ghastly car accident in 2021 that his parents understood how far his music had gone.

He added, “They didn’t know I was taking it seriously until after the accident. When the accident happened, a lot of people came to the hospital and they wondered how it was possible. They soon began to realise that I had a community that was growing already and they gave me their blessings from that point.”

Recall that back in 2021, Victony was in a coma for four days after the car accident that left one dead, injured three and confined him to a wheelchair for a year.

Tyrese Gibson has been taken into custody after he failed to pay the monthly $10,000 child support payments a judge ordered him to make to his ex Samantha Lee.

Gibson – who shares five-year-old daughter Soraya with Lee – was held in contempt of court Monday morning during a hearing over the matter.

Judge Kevin Farmer was upset over Gibson’s refusal to make the monthly $10,000 child support payments the actor was ordered to begin paying in April 2023.

Farmer held Gibson in contempt of court Monday. And the ‘Fast & Furious’ actor was placed in handcuffs by the bailiff and taken out of the courtroom.

The judge offered Gibson the chance to resolve the issue and avoid jail time if he paid $73,000. That figure includes Samantha’s attorney fees, which total $7,500.

Gibson had been making payments to Lee. However, it has not been the $10,000 figure the judge ordered him to begin making last year.

Tyrese Gibson has been paying his ex around $2,200 every month as of 2023.

Insiders said Gibson is currently in the process of sorting out the $73K payment.

Like Tems, Ayra Starr says she has ‘never fallen in love’

Oyinkansola Aderigbigbe, the Nigerian singer better known as Ayra Starr, says she has “never fallen in love”.

The Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star spoke about her love life in a recent interview with Dazed Magazine.

Starr, 21, who graced the cover of the latest issue of the British lifestyle magazine, admitted that despite being identified as a “lover girl,” she has never been in a fully committed relationship.

The 21-year-old Mavin Records sensation, now open to finding love, also attributed her single status to her intense focus on music since age 15.

“I want to fall in love. I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ about what love would look like if I was. I am a lover girl deep in my heart, I’m just very strong headed about it. I actually have never been in love. I have been in certain situations – not situationships! – but I have never been in a fully committed relationship,” she said.

“I’ve put myself out there and I’ve tried to see what’s there but I don’t think I’ve had the time. I’ve been working since I was 15, I was modelling, I was doing university, and now I’m on the road.

“It’s me just enjoying myself as a girl. I’m like, let me sing to a cute boy today and I’m looking around because I can – why not?”
