Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, minister of women affairs, says she will host a fundraising dinner to enhance women’s economic empowerment and alleviate poverty.

In a post on X on Thursday, Kennedy-Ohanenye said the dinner would be held on October 15.

The minister said the dinner would be part of the activities to mark her one year in office, adding that it would bring prominent figures across different sectors together.

“In a proactive move, we announced plans for a fundraising dinner on October 15th to bolster the economic empowerment of women,” she wrote.

“This event will bring together influential figures from various sectors to generate essential capital, equipment, and resources that will significantly uplift the financial standing of women and alleviate poverty.

“By creating job opportunities and reducing crime rates, we aim to foster a more equitable and prosperous society.

“To commemorate my one-year anniversary in office, I extended compassion to vulnerable members of our community. I visited a hospital to settle the medical bills of indigent patients, including children battling cancer.

“Witnessing the suffering endured by these individuals motivated me to make a positive impact and bring joy to the lives of women and children during this special occasion.”

The minister promised to always stand up for women and children in the country.
