Pop star Justin Timberlake was sentenced to community service on Friday after pleading guilty to a drink-driving charge, according to US media reports.

The 43-year-old was arrested on 18 June in Sag Harbor, approximately 100 miles east of New York City, after police observed his BMW running a stop sign and swerving between lanes.

In August, Timberlake pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated during a virtual court appearance before a judge, who ordered the suspension of his driver’s licence in New York state, US media reported.

However, Sag Harbor Village Justice Court justice Carl Irace later handed Timberlake a community service sentence and ordered the star to make a public statement after he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of driving while alcohol-impaired, The New York Post reported.

The officer who pulled over the “Cry Me a River” singer said Timberlake was in no fit state to drive.

“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, his speech was slow, he was unsteady on his feet, and he performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests,” the police report stated.

Portable, the controversial singer, has broken down in tears while issuing another apology to the preacher he recently assaulted.

Last week, the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ hitmaker confronted and slapped a man who came to preach at his bar in Ogun state.

Portable’s actions attracted widespread criticism on social media. Gospel artiste Testimony Jaga also gave him a three-day ultimatum to apologise to the preacher.

In a recent video, Portable was seen on his kneels weeping profusely as he expressed remorse for his actions.

The singer was surrounded by several people at his bar chanting “God is the king. Jesus is here”.

“I want to say this to all the pastors around the world. I am your son. My brother here is your son. Whatever thing he has done, we are sorry,” said Jaga who was also spotted at Portable’s bar.

Last Monday, Portable had tendered an apology to the public, saying he would not have slapped the preacher if he knew he was a “true man of God”.

The singer said he attacked the preacher because he believed the “man was at my bar to inflict spiritual harm on me”.

Marriage is not an achievement, says Frank Edoho

Frank Edoho, the media personality famous for hosting the highly acclaimed game show ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (WWTBAM),’ says he believes “marriage is not an achievement”.

Edoho shared his viewpoint on marriages in a recent episode of ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ podcast with content creator Ismail ‘Isbae U’ Adebayo.

The TV host emphasized that marriage is simply an agreement between two people to live together, adding that its dissolution does not signify the end of the world.

“See, firstly, marriage is not an achievement,” Edoho said.

“Which people told you that marriage is an achievement? Marriage is not an achievement.

“Marriage is just two people coming together and agreeing to live together for the rest of their lives. And if one marriage breaks, it’s not the end of the world. And if you leave a marriage, it’s not the end of the world.

“Like the girl you wanted to date and give a role and have sex with her, you understand, you guys broke up. Have you died? Have you died? You haven’t.”

Edoho hosted WWTBAM from its inception on October 8, 2004, until September 2, 2017.

He left the show following a breakdown in a contract negotiation that would have seen him rise to the position of executive producer of the show.

But in 2022, organisers of the game show announced that Edoho would rehash his role as the anchor of the rebooted programme.

Diddy denied bail, sent to jail ahead of sex trafficking trial

Robyn Tarnofsky, the US magistrate judge, has ordered that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs be sent to jail to await trial in his federal sex trafficking case.

According to AP, the judge held that the embattled rapper, who is currently facing federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges, be held without bail.

Tarnofsky gave the order on Tuesday after the music mogul pleaded not guilty to racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

The bail denial followed after Diddy was accused in a 14-page federal indictment of using his sprawling business empire to abuse, threaten, and traffic women to “fulfill his sexual desires” and protect his reputation.

Federal prosecutors, in the indictment, charged Diddy with sex trafficking by force, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy.

They alleged the rapper, with help from Combs Enterprise associates, ran an “enterprise that he engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor or, kidnapping, arson and other crimes”.

Combs was said to have “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct” from 2008 to now.

Of the three charges against the rapper, two carry a maximum sentence of life in prison. Prosecutors had asked that he remain jailed until trial.

His lawyers, however, prayed that he be released on a $50 million bond to home detention with electronic monitoring.

Tarnofsky kicked against the bail request. The 54-year-old rapper was thereafter taken out of court without handcuffs.

Diddy is the highest-profile musician to face sexual misconduct charges since Robert Sylvester Kelly, the R&B singer popularly known as R. Kelly.
