Ngozi Nwosu, the ace Nollywood actress, has revealed that she can “never render” free services to her home state, Abia.

In an interview with Nollywood on Radio, the 61-year-old film star said the Abia state government’s “lack of support” during her health crisis in 2012 prompted her decision.

Nwosu, who had battled a kidney-related ailment, said she “made a pact” that the state would have to compensate her generously for any future services.

“I have personally said it that there is nothing my state will call me for that I would go for free,” she said.

“They would pay through their nose for me to be there. I am from Arochukwu local government, Abia state.”

She further revealed she got the help of the Lagos government through a lady who referred to her as her “favorite actress”.

“It was the fame I had through the roles I played in series then that helped me when I needed help,” she added.

“The person who called the Lagos state government did it because I was her favorite actor. So when she heard I was down she called the government to save my live because she loves me.”

In 2022, the actress revealed how the rumours about her condition made her fall into depression.

Nwosu began her acting career in Yoruba-language films, before making her home-video debut in ‘Living in Bondage,’ an Igbo-language film considered to begin the video film era of Cinema of Nigeria.

Skales, the Nigerian singer, has responded to a social media user who credited Burna Boy for reviving his career.

The controversy started when a critic commented on one of Skales’ posts, calling his career “dead” and attributing its resurgence to Burna Boy’s involvement.

The critic specifically mentioned the 2017 remix of Skales’ hit song ‘Temper,’ which featured Burna Boy and earned a nomination for Best Collaboration at the 2018 Headies.

“This is the more reason why everyone hates you mf. Burnaboy was part of the people that helped your dead career,” the user’s post reads.

However, Skales swiftly dismissed the claim, emphasizing that the Grammy winner did not contribute to his success.

The 33-year-old singer argued that the collaboration with Burna Boy was mutually beneficial.

“Listen I will defend myself always, I love Burna but don’t you ever say he helped me. No one helped me! Only my fans and God’s grace. We do collabo wey all of us benefit from. If the thing no benefit us, we no go dey perform for our different sets,” he wrote via his X page.
