Nigerian lady aims for world record with 100-hour hand-sewing marathon
Ibikunle Olamide, a Nigerian fashion designer based in Port Harcourt, is on a mission to set a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest sewing marathon by an individual.
The lady commenced her attempt on December 3 at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Port Harcourt. She is expected to conclude her nearly five-day quest on December 7.
Ibikunle is attempting the exercise using only a needle and thread, rather than a sewing machine. She said the aim is to showcase her “craftsmanship and unstoppable determination”.
“I’m gearing up for something extraordinary—a Guinness World Record attempt for the Longest Sewing Marathon, done entirely by hand!” she said.
“No sewing machines, just a needle, thread, and unstoppable determination!
“This isn’t just about sewing; it’s about pushing boundaries, showcasing craftsmanship, and making history. Will you cheer me on?
“Mark your calendars and follow my journey as I stitch my way to greatness!”
