An earthquake shook Los Angeles just hours after the conclusion of the 2025 Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood.

The 3.9-magnitude tremor hit North Hollywood around 10:13 p.m. on Sunday, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.

Reports of shaking were felt across Los Angeles, reaching areas such as Pasadena, Long Beach, San Fernando Valley, Torrance, Redondo Beach, and Glendale, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of injuries or damages, as confirmed by ABC 7.

The Los Angeles Fire Department announced that they would not be entering “earthquake mode” following the quake. This mode is typically activated when first responders are assessing damage to buildings and infrastructure after a significant earthquake.

The earthquake occurred shortly after the 97th Academy Awards ceremony concluded at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Shaking was even visible on a live stream of an afterparty hosted by Vanity Fair at the Wallis Annenberg Center, located about 4 miles away from the Dolby Theatre, as reported by The Sun.

Over 9,000 individuals reported feeling the quake on Sunday using the USGS’ “Did you feel it?” tool.

Attendees at an exclusive afterparty at the Governors Ball at the Ovation Hollywood Complex reportedly felt the shaking from the earthquake, according to a source cited by the Hollywood Reporter.

This recent earthquake on Sunday night follows a series of tremors that have affected California in 2025.

Last month, two earthquakes of 3.7 and 3.5 magnitudes struck the Malibu area, as disclosed by the city.

Additionally, two quakes of 3.4 and 3.2 magnitudes occurred around noon on Feb. 14 near the city of Hayward, just south of San Francisco, according to the US Geological Survey.
