President Sheinbaum Reveals Mexicos Contingency Plan Amid US Tariff Threats

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum addressed the looming threat of tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, stating that Mexico is prepared to wait and see if the tariffs are indeed implemented. Sheinbaum assured the public that contingency plans are in place in the event that the tariffs are put into effect.
During a press conference, President Sheinbaum emphasized that Mexico is ready for any outcome, regardless of the decision made by the US. She mentioned that Mexico has multiple contingency plans in place, without providing specific details at the time.
It is important to note that Mexican officials recently engaged in discussions with their US counterparts in Washington to address trade and security policies. These discussions were aimed at preventing the imposition of tariffs by the US.
President Trump has criticized Mexico and Canada for not taking sufficient action to combat the influx of synthetic drugs, such as fentanyl, and to reduce the number of migrants arriving at the US border. He has threatened to impose tariffs if stronger measures are not taken by both countries.
President Sheinbaum described the meetings in Washington as productive and highlighted the positive cooperation between Mexico and the US thus far. She expressed optimism about the ongoing dialogue and collaboration between the two nations.
