Singer-songwriter Angie Stone d!es in car accident
Renowned singer Angie Stone, best known for her chart-topping hit “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” has tragically passed away at the age of 63.
Stone was involved in a fatal car accident in Montgomery, Alabama, as confirmed by a representative for the singer to Variety. She was reportedly returning home from a performance when the accident occurred, resulting in her untimely death.

Her daughter, Diamond Stone, expressed her grief online, stating, “My mommy is gone.”
Stone rose to fame as a founding member of the pioneering female hip-hop trio, the Sequence, in the late 1970s at just 16 years old. The group achieved success with their hit song “Funk You Up,” which was later sampled by Dr. Dre in his single “Keep Their Heads Ringin'” and by Bruno Mars in “Uptown Funk.”
Following the disbandment of the Sequence in the mid-1980s, Stone continued her musical journey as a vocalist for Vertical Hold and Devox. She also contributed songwriting credits to D’Angelo’s first two studio albums and served as a backing vocalist for him on tour. Additionally, Stone lent her vocals to Lenny Kravitz’s album “5” in 1998.
Throughout her career, Stone released ten studio albums, a compilation album, and over two dozen singles. Her most recent album, “Love Language,” released in 2023, featured collaborations with Musiq Soulchild and her son, Swayvo Twain.
A three-time Grammy nominee, Stone also made significant contributions as a songwriter for artists such as Erykah Badu and Raphael Saadiq. In addition to her musical endeavors, Stone showcased her acting talents in films like “The” and “The Fighting Temptations,” as well as on stage in Chicago playing the role of Big Mama Morton.
