Strategies for Peace: Keeping Cool in the Face of Zelenskyys Provocation Russia Hails Trump
Russia has commended President Donald Trump of the United States following his meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine in Washington on Friday.
Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry, praised Trump for showing “restraint” during the heated exchange with Zelensky at the White House. She criticized Zelensky for claiming that the Kyiv regime in 2022 was isolated and without support.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who now serves as the deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, referred to Zelensky as an “insolent pig” who received a “proper slap down” in the Oval Office.
Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, described the confrontation between Trump and Zelensky as “historic”. Dmitriev was involved in the Russian-American talks held in Saudi Arabia on February 18, the first talks since Russia initiated its offensive in Ukraine in 2022.
During the meeting in Washington, Zelenskyy and Trump discussed the peace deal aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. Zelenskyy has accused Trump of supporting Russia and following the orders of President Vladimir Putin.
It is worth noting that Trump had previously referred to Zelenskyy as a dictator and did not include him in the peace talks in Saudi Arabia last month. Despite this, Zelenskyy has maintained that the war must not end on Russia’s terms.
