Tinubu urges Senate to confirm five RECs for appointment
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday transmitted the names of five nominees to the Senate for confirmation as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The nominees are: Umar Yusuf Garba, representing Kano State; Saad Umar (Bauchi), Chukwuemeka Ukomba (Anambra), Umar Muhktar (Borno, reappointed) and Johnson Alalibo Siniken (Bayelsa).Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s letter of request on the floor during plenary.
After reading the letter, Akpabio referred it to the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters for screening and to report back to plenary within one week.
