U.S. president, Trump says Ukraine’s leader, Zelensky should be ‘more appreciative’

On Monday, March 3, US President Donald Trump expressed his belief that Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, should show more gratitude for the support provided by the United States in the face of Russia’s invasion. Trump made these comments following a public disagreement between the two leaders.
During a press conference at the White House, Trump stated, “I believe he should be more appreciative, as this country has stood by Ukraine through various challenges.” When questioned about the status of a minerals deal between Washington and Kyiv, which was intended to help resolve the conflict, Trump responded, “I do not believe it is dead.”
Regarding reports suggesting that he was contemplating cutting off military aid to Ukraine, Trump neither confirmed nor denied the claims. His remarks underscore the complex relationship between the United States and Ukraine, particularly in the context of ongoing geopolitical tensions.
“I haven’t even talked about that right now.. I mean, right now, we’ll see what happens. A lot of things are happening right now as we speak,” he said.
“I mean literally as we speak. I could give you an answer and go back to my office — the beautiful Oval Office — I could go back into the Oval Office and find out that the answer is obsolete.”
