Google to allow parents delete online photos of their kids

Google says it will allow parents to be able to remove their children’s images from its search results.

The tech giant announced the development yesterday, alongside a range of changes it made to child-safety measures across its products.

Google said it will also remove “overly commercial content” from the children’s version of YouTube.

The search giant also stated that it would now change what kind of adverts can be targeted at under-18s.

The changes come as major tech companies are introducing such measures due to scrutiny from governments and safety advocates.

Earlier, Facebook said it will stop allowing advertisers to target people under 18 on its platforms based on their interests or activity on other websites.

It said the change means advertisers will soon be able to target under-18s only by age, gender, or location on Facebook, its messenger service, and Instagram, its photo-sharing platform.

In the same vein, Instagram also stated it would make the same change because it agreed with youth advocates that young people might not be equipped to make decisions about targeting.
