We’ve no plan to postpone Ondo poll – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has not plan to postpone the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State.
The commission was reacting to the call by 20 out of 30 political parties participating in the election for a shift in the poll date.
There was report of protest in Akure, Ondo State on Monday by supporters of the parties, which leaders said could pose a threat to the election.
But Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said the commission is not contemplating any shift in the date.
According to him, preparations for the Ondo governorship election started since March this year, adding that 12 out of 14 activities planned for the poll have already been executed.
Oyekanmi noted that there are no grounds yet for the postponement in line with the Electoral Law.
